Blowers should be specifically for marine use. It needs to be "sparkless" so fumes are not ignited by brushes.
I would run it for 4 minutes after fueling and if you have been away for an extended period of time.

That certainly sounds sensible. The only thing going 'wooof' I want to hear is the dog...
I really appreciate all the thoughts chaps! And yes.. the condensation is unbelievable! How to tame that one is really puzzling me.

I think its funny an F8-9 sailor worries about condensation.... :wink: :wink:

The logic is really simple.. If the admiral is not comfortable then the skipper can be in for the ultimate maritime disaster.. shipwreck :!: :!:
by boat sold!!!
I would think in this context an F8 is not that scary at all! :D
BTW thanks for your vote of confidence.. I do enjoy writing in that dry British style as I really appreciate the humour in it. One can also elucidate far more help if the odd smile is raised.
My current condensing concern is that it is due to be -9 tonight, and I've got more water in the boat than I'd care to admit. I really do not want to test my grp work by having to repair any hull splits. I'm probly being over catious, as ever, as I'm aware that ice formation/expansion is a fascinating dynamic as it extrudes itself about, and the shape of the ice blocks in the bilge are far from trapped. Still.. the heater is on so today it all comes out. But if I was away for a fortnight?? :o
Also, at the moment I'm getting at least half a pint a day! When sleeping gear & cushions etc are all onboard they are pretty horrid sponges when cold & damp.. not too inspiring for Mrs when the view is to upgrade to a steel hull and circumnavigate. She likes sailing, I need her to love it! Steel is worse too, so lessons learned...
And of course with an iron boat I can recklessly plough into random innoccent souls at sea and not have to worry! :evil:

On freezing ice in the bilges, mine routinely freezes in our -20 to -30 C in the depth of winter and Ive never had hull issues.

That's good to know. Even with 3" of water? Our boat sits 8 degrees down on the aft so all water runs to the transom end.

I have had that much freeze in the bilge, but since seeing that Ive generally levelled the boat in the winter so that i get <1 inch. I actually left my fresh water tank 1/2 full this year and its frozen solid - probably until April...
