Paint Help.....
I have a MAc 97 X.....it has whatever paint on it that I bought it used with. 95% of paint seems fine, but there are loose area or areas that the paint is off, to white under.....There has never been any issues with bubbles or anything like that. Firberglass is in great condition. Question is this.....I cannot afford to have the whole boat stripped and repainted right now......what can I do in the area that are down to the white to get me through this season? Can you recommend a paint to touch up with? Would an ablative keep the water off the fiberglass? what your recommend to either touch up the white areas....or go over the existring......

Re: Paint Help.....
Cork - if you are trailering or dry slipping I would just ignore it until next season. Lots of us go sans bottom paint or barrier - obviously you would only have a couple places to check next season.

Re: Paint Help.....
Couple more tidbits.
It's about 5% (maybe less) that is off. I can see white through the black in these areas. The rest is black, i would guess ablative....as it rubs a little black on my hand. Another note....never seen any blisters anwhere on boat. Also, in fresh water. It will be in the slip from now until october. If I have them just go over the whole bottom with an ablative will that keep me good for the season...and keep the water off those spots for this and maybe next season? Any advice, paint types, thoughts, etc would be great.

Re: Paint Help.....
SO, does anyone have any advice on a paint type or brand? I am leaning toward having the marina do an overcoat of ablative. It's kind of all I can afford right now. Do you think it would be ok for a season or two and keep the water off the fiberglass for the next couple months?
Please advise.
Like I said, it appears that I have a black barrier coat with a thick ablative on top (as i get a very light black on my hand if I rub it.) I am in fresh water on the Chesapeake Bay. Would be in slip from June to October.
Will the ablative re-paint keep me good? Like I said it's maybe 5% that I can see through to white......
Please help, recommend a paint and brand.....
Thanks......
