People I've spoken to say it is an easy exchnage however I'm leary to try doing it alone. The Admiral will be of little use in a situation like this. Should I recruit some brawner help?
New Genoa sail on CDI furler
New Genoa sail on CDI furler
I've bought a new Genoa sail to replace the worn out one. The old one is mounted on a CDI furler. Anyone have step by step instructions for changing out the sails? Video or Pix would be even better.

Now that you have the instructions. I will repeat what you have been told already, that it is easy, but you will want you mast and rigging up for this procedure, otherwise it will be harder.

PM Catigale on this board
He has it all laid out for you or anyone else who might need to know. I used his instructions for the first time I loaded my Genny
Worked great. U can search for the thread but might take a while, would be easier to PM him. I used to have the instructions booked marked but must have deleted them as I have the hang of it now

Re: New Genoa sail on CDI furler
I changed my Genoa sail two years ago. Its fairly easy to do.
My suggestions:
Put the boat on its trailer.
The mast should be upright.
Select an area with a lot of space, like an empty parking lot.
No wind.
An assistant really helps. My daughter helped me.
If any lines seem weak, replace them.
If I remember, it takes about an hour, or so, from start to finish.
One more thing:
Protect your new sail from UV damage by installing a sail sock. I made one from Sunbrella material, but they are readily available from the internet.

I'm on cuttyhunk harbor so iPhone access to web
Couple of points
You have to run a messenger line on the furler halyard when you pull the first sail down I use two bowline loops locked together
Put as small a bowline loop as you can make so you can get the heed of the sail as high as possible
Feed the luff tape into the slot carefully .. If it is hard to pull the sail up, STOP ... And fix the sail at thZe feed slot.
Once the sail is up tie the halyard tight then tension the luff with the tack... The sail will stretch down quite a bit when you do this ....like another 8-9 inches
I have found the genny CDI combo works with 5 wraps of the furler line on the spool with the genny wrapped up tight. This will give you enough line to wrap the whole genny in stiff winds , where you will use an extra turn or two since it wraps tighter, but you will still be able to fit the whole furler line into the spool. It's a pretty close tolerance between the two condition unlike the jib.
It's p
