Got room for an NC MacGregor?

My wife and I are planning to join up with you all.

I've been to the website... good info. We are going to driving down on Thursday and launching that day, probably around 4-6pm.

Where would be the best place to meet up with the rest of the group?

Thanks,
Erik & Jean

Erik

It would be great if you came down. The Admiral and I have enjoyed many of your pics and mods and look forward to meeting you and your crew. It is also a relief to have another X'er with the group, these M guys can be pretty elitist :P . I will be on the water Wednesday night and heading towards the public marina located in downtown Jacksonville for some final prep work before the event. If you would like to meet up, pm me and we can coordinate a time and location. Also, if you'd like to be added to the email roster, pm me a private e-mail addy.

Take Care.

Ive found them to be the same, always huddling together at the back of the race pack - even when I make my sail handling 'unseamanlike and landlubberly' they seem to stay back there.

Only by backwinding my sails will they reluctlantly draw closer...

Greetings,

Phil took me out to Cumberland Island today and we had the opportunity to inspect a few of the possible mooring sites. I was also lucky enough to get a quick tour of downtown St. Marys, the local marina and the harbor itself. I’ll try to post a map on the web page to give everyone a better idea of what to expect. Cumberland Island was great. I recommend everyone visit the web site and review the parks recommended gear list. There are very limited resources on the island. PM me for details or if your interested in attending.

Life is short and when I die I don't want my headstone to say I had a perfect lawn. What's your excuse?

John,
As you have witnessed yourself, I have a beautiful yard but yet I will also be attending the this year. We will emerge as the East Coast " BEER CRUISE".
r/phil

To all of you on the fence:
You maybe missing out on some of the best scenery and sailing on the SE coast. And more importantly, getting to know some of your sailing "internet buddies". I was on the fence for last year's sail and the BEER cruise in Pensacola and I am so glad I decided to go. I will continue to go for many years, it's alot of fun!!!

My wife and I think that we can tow the boat from a meeting in Atlanta to Auburn then to Jax for the Meet Up. Should be able to get there Thur AM. I just posted on the main forum that the forestay that goes throught the roller furler is broken. I am going to see if I can find a rigger in Jax to fix it for me. Anybody got a referral in the area?

The :macx: is new to us and we have not sailed her so I am worried if the trip might be too much for us. We have sailed bigger "wine and cheese" boats that I would have a hard time getting them knocked down etc. We had a 88 Mac S or an inland lake but the sailing is very non eventful. No seas to worry about and if the wind is over 15 knots it is usually a storm so not fun to be out anyway. We would like the opportunity to meet a group with similar boats and learn what a :macx: can do. If the sailing is too much of a challenge for us at this point we can certainly just use the motor. After saying all of this if the area is "too much" for a new :macx: owner please let us know. Will not hurt our feelings. We don't want to be a problem for anybody.

Thanks
Bob and ALicia

Bob - Im in NY so not attending but if you dont get a friendly reception from the NC Mac crowd Ill eat my hat.

You dont get moralising and sailing snobbery from Mac groups, Ive found.

Bob,
You can sail up the intercoastal all the way if you like and the winds are favorable of course. If not, you can motor. I planned on a 50/50 mix of sailing and motoring. Bring an extra 5 gal fuel can for insurance.
As far as the rigging, I know that a few of the local West Marine can make you a new forestay or replace components as needed. Might want to check with our local store if you have one.
Come on down. The weather is starting to break from all the heat we have had and it hopefully will be a beautiful Sept weekend.
