Perth Western Australia Social Sailing
Hi Guys
I've met a few other MacGregor owners here in Perth and they seem to be a pretty friendly bunch (as you'd expect)so I'm thinking I'd like to start a monthly MacGregor Social sailing event on the Swan River with like minded MacGregor owners.
So if any one is interested please send me your contact details so we can get some thing started.
Cheers Darren

Hi Darren,
Why don't you and all the other Perth owners join the Aus MacGregor Association. We could organise yearly get together's than. You know east against west, blue against white.

Re: Perth Western Australia Social Sailing
Its a good idea, but a bit of a shame I dont have the
any more...circumstances you know...
however, I came across a derelict 6.1 mt. SEA EAGLE keelboat badly in need of T.L.C. and CHEAP.
And that's what has been keeping me busy for some time...
When i get it on the Swan, I'll keep a lookout foy you lot....

I'll add photos of the improvements soon...Cheers...Pugs.

Hi All,,,Its getting there...won't be long now...biggest expense but an investment was the nice trailer...

I have added the 'rolling' wheel to the trailer, the light system is totally removeable with the side lights held to the mudguards by 'velcro'.

Hi Braz...Yep!, made it out of a length of aluminium 2 1/2 inch REICULATION pipe...pulley at the top and a small ONE WAY winch....and a single point fixing at the base so the pole is removeable. Its a dead steal off the
idea...I hope Roger does not mind.
Could not get hold of a two way winch, but it only needs to work when raising anyway...lowering is simply unwinding and keeping the tension on...as long as no one asks for an autograph when I'm doing it.
And the mast is only 7 metres...a bit lighter than the
Photos of the new paint job following soon...plus a couple of smaller improvements...

Re: Perth Western Australia Social Sailing
Excluding the anti-fouling paint, here is the end result...just waiting for the weather to improve...'cause its midwinter here now and a storm is coming through tonight..,.
http://s261.photobucket.com/albums/ii72 ... jpg...have since fitted a steaming light on the front face of the mast...to use only when motoring...the 360 at the mast top is a converted [ read cheap] garden light [ solar/battery] but with a 12v. globe and associated wiring..down the mast...added.
The mast lowering system is a dead steal off SEAHORSE [ fond memories]
http://s261.photobucket.com/albums/ii72 ... HED007.jpg
http://s261.photobucket.com/albums/ii72 ... HED003.jpg
As to the interior...I have fully wired up to two LARGE batteries through a secondhand fuse board to handle two white and one red interior lights...one white is L.E.D.
Port and starboard and white stern nav. lights, cig. plug at the stern to cater for the tiller pilot,
I will add to this collection of photos when I take more of the cockpit and cabin.
And have a bilge pump to fit, although I do not think it will ever be used.
Oh! and a 27meg. radio and Cuda 300 sounder...
Too flash for the workers Eh!

Re: Perth Western Australia Social Sailing
BEGAZZA hits the water on Thursday...All the jobs except a coat of anti-fouling have been done.
1. Thorough clean inside and out.
2. New paint job inside and out.
3. build and fit tabernacle for mast lowering. Build and fit stern pushpit. Build and fit MAC design mast lowering system. Refurbish all shrouds, turnbuckles and fit twin forestay. now I can lower the mast solo in under five minutes [ onto the rear suppport roller] and never need to remove the mast from the tabernacle...it only hangs over the stern by four feet.
4. Bought the trailer and fitted the trailer TO the boat. No winch but floaton/off.
5. built and fitted a 'third' wheel to the trailer, to enable disconnecting from the tow vehicle and rolling into deeper water by cable. Trailer can be manouvred deeper for recovery.
ELECTRICS; Scored two good sized batteries off a family member. Ran wires for and fitted...a. anchoring light [ converted garden/solar unit] top of mast...b. steaming light...off ebay $5....on mast facing bow....port and starboard nav. lights [ Ebay...NEW...
under $10 the pair. have fitted all with LED festoon globes.c. stern light [ round white trailer light fitting] cig. plug outlet rear of cockpit for tiller pilot. d. fitted internal 'wet box' for sounder transducer [ cuda300] mounted head unit on swivelling bar that folds out from behind rear cabin wall into opening of cabin doorway. e. fitted and wired 27 meg GME two way radio. f. fitted and wired 1100 gph bilge pump with outlet that can be placed out the stern, avoiding any extra hull holes. GPS is handheld Lowrance MAP1000, running off temporary cig. plug with alligator clips.. may make this permanent.
Will test sail with sails that came with the boat...if no good will replace with as new main that requires shortening in the luff. by about 30 cm.
Jib is a small one that would not even supply enough cloth to cover Pammy Anderson.
Ain't that saying something...
She...the boat...is lookin' good and just about ready for this coming summer down under...I'll keep in touch as to how she goes...
No longer boatless in Perth...
