TOWING W/ MAZDA MPV

Post by RENATO C »

:?: SPEC CLAIMS 4500LB TOWING CAPACITY W/ TOW PKG. Anyone out there have actual experience? I'm guessing should be no problem towing across town 5 mi. Not sure how expressway tow would be.

Mazda's web specs claim 3,000 lb towing with the 4-Seasons towing package, 2,000 without, for the MPV.

capt moe,
thanks for the response. i'm guessing your spec was for a 2005 mpv. the spec in the user manual for my 96 is 4500 (or maybe 4300). regardless, the duscussion on the subaru and honda pilot answers my question.
btw: were all mac 26s built in 1996 an "X"? i've seen an ad for an "X" built in 95, yet i also saw an ad for a 1996 (w/ 10hp ob) which the owner says is not???
thanks again.

RENATO C,
Just caught the question you asked about the '95 models!

There were two models produced that year, the X, and the Classic model, both water ballast, but the X was a different transom/design!

2002 was also a transition year, both the X and M were made then!

BTW, there is a story here, about my brand new '89 6 cyl 4X4 (at the time anyway) Mazda MPV that towed an older Mac Venture, my 1st, a 1973 model.
