Anyone know who sells the stern seats and their approx price? Also, any comments on them Ie: ease of installation, durability, waste of money etc.
Thanks,
Harrison

Harrison, I bought a set of Stern seats from Blue Water Yachts last year and find they really increase the appearant size of the cockpit. Crewmembers sitting on them are out of the way for people moving about in the cockpit and it is a great view. As I recall they were about $500. and they were shipped to me in Florida. Not real easy to install as you have a very small hole through which you have to attach the nuts on the backside of bolts that fasten the rear legs of each seat. You also have to shorten the safety lines and they have to be reswaged. A good boat yard can probably do the entire job for you in two or three hours. John L

Try this link:

Price is $499.00 - I have been thinking about installing a pair as well - price seems a bit steep though.

HUM I wonder
3/4 TW/sch80 stainless tubing and a bender add some welding and a few s.s. nuts and bolts and a piece of starboard or 3/4 emt some bending a trip to the chrome shop and that piece of starboard. Looks do-able

My first time on a 26M was a demo sail in Oxnard, CA and a great guy named Marty had the rail seats and that addition to the cockpit damn near sold me on the boat. It just adds great uncramped seating to the cockpit and they are definitely on my must get list....the problem is at that price, I can get a lot of other must haves, so they are waiting a bit.
Who know, maybe if a few of us buy them in one order, we can get a discount? I would be in for a try.

Push-Pit conversion to Stern Seats ?
The MacM I have on order is getting a factory-fitted Push-Pit fitted as part of the standard European-specification package. My question is this...can the Pull-Pit be converted / modified to add the 'seat' part of the Stern Seat...because to my mind the MacFactory fitted push-pit looks an awful lot like the BWYacht Stern Seat.

But what about a bimini top?
Thanks everyone for the comments. Does anyone know if the bimini in it's open or closed position would interfere with the seats or while sitting on them? (New boat is being equiped with the bimini top, and I haven't picked it up yet)
I don't actually know how far forward or aft, the top sits when deployed.
Thanks,
Harrison

Harrison,
The MacM I have on order is coming with the Bimini and the rear push-pit rails which you can see at the webaddress listed below.
http://www.macgregorexport.com/options.htm
I assume that the MacFactory wouldn't sell the combination of the Bimini and the rear safety rails if there was a conflict.
The photo on the web address listed above shows a clear gap between the Bimini and the stern rails.
I realise this doesn't 'entirely' answer your question...but maybe it partly answers it.

Dowsar Marine up in Canada has some really nice stern rail seats for both the M and the X...
Unfortunately they don't seem to have a picture of them on their website ( www.dowsar.com )
However, they are at the Toronto Boat show and have an M with the seats on display

Unless things have changed quite recently, there is no factory bimini, nor factory modified stern rails, nor factory installed stern seats. These are all strictly dealer obtained and installed. By my observations of quite a few X boats, there is considerable variation from dealer to dealer in both the items themselves and in their installation. It sometimes appears these were ever done the same way twice; even by the same dealer.Mac wrote:I assume that the MacFactory wouldn't sell the combination of the Bimini and the rear safety rails if there was a conflict.
In any case, I believe it would be a mistake to automatically assume any particular combination of dealer installed options must be compatible. The M boat is still new enough and few enough that it is quite likely that some dealers have never attempted to install some combinations of options, and you don't want him finding out on your boat they don't happen to be compatible.
If there's any question, make your concern known to the dealer. Otherwise, you might end up being unpleasently surprised to learn what compromises the dealer thinks you will be willing to put up with. "You didn't say you wanted to be able to use the bimini while sailing," or words to that effect.
That being said, it appears from the photos of this particular bimini that it is installed on a set of gunnel mounted slides with plently of fore and aft adjustment. Looks like you could slide it forward, fold it, then slide it aft all the way under the rail seats.

Bluewater designed and has their own built locally.
I've also seen pictures of the ones Dowsar is making in Canada. Theirs are better looking than the Bluewater ones, more rounded with better contours to the rails. They look much more comfortable than the squarish Bluewater seat.
I haven't seen them on their web page yet, but you could call them and get a price.

You can see a bit of them in this picture.

And you can see how the back is rounded by the shape of the canvas in this picture that wraps around them
