What is a "slide kit"? I am thinking my 8 year old might like it if our boat had a slide. :-)

I was interested in seeing what was being talked about, but after searching Kelly's site for slide and side kits I found nothing....

OK ..... Now I follow you.. Sail Slugs!! :D
My Boat?? Came new with them from Bill @ Boats 4 Sail ... I bought my boat???....From a sailor!
Not a Time Share or Used Car Salesman ...... Moonlighting as a sailboat salesman.
Before we wrote the check we talked about saaaaaaailing..He...Bill... offers a package of 100% Useful ....items that these boats dont come with and at a price that if you can honestly afford even these "scotch built" boats . It Makes No Sense to me .. NOT to purchase.. Yes they work like I dream compared to the rope .. I suppose .. Because My boat .. came brand new.... with them.. I can only imagine what it must be like to pull up 30 feet of sail in the wind with a rope instead of slugs.. :o MUST be a real PITA!

Yes, sail slugs a.k.a. "slides" are well worth the $40 bucks. Makes mainsail handling much easier.

Are you serious? Does anyone feed the rope bolt anymore? Sail slugs really improve the quality of like on a sail boat.

For single-handling a smaller sail boat like the 26, sail slugs make sense.
Main goes up an down easily and quickly. Now i have asked around with some
racing Captains, and they prefer to thread their main into the tracts because
it provides a seal between the main and mast. Slugs tend to create smaller pockets
between each slug which air might slip behind the sail, which equates to some loss of
sail power.

I wish I could provide a picture of what I'm talking about.

Unless you plan to race, go with the slugs. Like everyone has pointed out, they make life so much easier to drop the sail because they keep the luff under control especially while you trying to gather the main up to put your sail ties on
