German Translators?
German Translators?
Greetings:
I have a German customer who vacations in Bradenton, FL. He has as 26M that he keeps there and is struggling with understanding my instructions regarding:
*Installing his Cradle Cover
*Running his halyards aft
*Getting his sail up and down while single handing
If there are any German-speaking Mac owners that could possibly help a fellow Mac owner with the language barrier, please email me at [email protected] or feel free to call me directly.
Thank you!

Re: German Translators?
Have u thought of typing out your instructions and emailing them to him? He could then use Google translator to convert from Eng to Gr. Just a thought.

Hello,
They make little handheld translator devices that you talk into and it then plays back (speaks) in the language you choose.

Re: German Translators?
Toby,
I might be able to help you but would need a little more info. What is a Cradle Cover. I don't have one on my X. Running halyards aft sounds like a mod. I am sure there is a lot of technical and nautical jargon that is difficult to translate. It would probably stump most computer translators. Much like a henway (proper spelling)!!
Does your client live here? If so I could translate some of the more arcane jargon and you should be able to do the rest. Most Germans are somewhat capable in English.
Lemme know.

hope I can help, very nice idea of Hamin X to relay this request to me
I have sent You and him a small word file with the most common American sailing phrases I made for myself. Beside that for everyone :
I don´t know what a cradle cover is.
Running Halyard aft: Großfall ins Cockpit geführt
Getting his sail up and down while single handing: einhand Segel heissen
My mail send to : [email protected] returned to me
Please tell Your customer either You or he might contact me whenever it is needed.
I love all the German inputs from You presented here

Re: German Translators?
Rainer,
Ich glaube ein Halyard ist ein Fall nicht ein Schott. Naturlich gibt es zwei Schoette die nach hinten ins Cockpit gelaeufen werden muessen. Ich habe auch keine Ahnung was ein Cradle Cover ist. Unnautisch, waere ein Cradle eine Baby Wiege. Ich erwarte Aufklaerung.
Ich glaube das der Toby ganz genaue Hinweise braucht um sein Kunde zu erklaeren wie man die Segel einhaendig heisst.

Rick,
Theo
That's because it was spelled incorrectly. Now that we have the correct spelling maybe the Germans will weigh in on it.pokerrick1 wrote:Theo - hve you noticed that the henway deal doesn't seem to produce the desired results anymore![]()
