Holy crap I was way out there?!?! Thanks Jack thats great stuff.
We can't wait til next time. I'll try to work on my anchoring instead of beaching. It really helps fend off the land sickness though, which isn't cool when you spend way too much time on a ladder at work
In the meantime I'll be working on getting the main halyard aft, no see em netting, and especially trimming Peppers nails. We got 3 so far!!!
All the best to you and your family in this very exciting time. Hope to see you again in mid July.
Hey, if you Mac'rs in the area of Momaw are looking to a place to wet your hull for the July 4th time frame, get your Macs down here and out in the water!!!! The Marin will be wet from now until later in July. I hear Sea Striker will be out here for the 4th. Roger, Pete, Scott, and all the rest.... lets get together behind Masonboro and chill....
We are the "Marin" and monitor 16 most of the time.
For those not familiar with this area, the boat ramp at WB is free. (smart to get there before the weekend) There is a nice city dinghy dock that can accept 6 Macs at a time (except crowded on weekends) with outside shower and clean restrooms and many restaurants and a friendly marina at Sea Path for fuel and drinks. You can walk a barrier island by yourself and also walk the beach at WB with 1000's of folks. Sailing outside is protected by the long jetty getting out of Masonboro Inlet.
See you there!!!
Hello fellow NC Mac owners. I just bought a 2006 Mac M and was hoping to put in ASAP but would like some help with the first go. I would like to take my Mac and meet up with another owner(s) for for the first sail (and hopefully many more). I live in Jacksonville, NC so both Wilmington and New Bern are about an hour away. I was planning on going to the 11th Annual CFCC Boat Show (http://www.visitnc.com/events/view/3529 ... -boat-show) in Wilmington this Sat so that would be ideal. Would anyone out there be kind enough to lend a hand?
Welcome A & C,
Personally, we will be back in the water July 31st for a week or so. Look forward to meeting ya'll.
Maybe someone else will be going to the CFCC show.
Ok. There is a lot of local info from us bilge rats as you call us on that other link. Are you going to Wilmington on the Cape Fear or one of the ICW towns like Wrightsville? Or both?
We just started a Mac V22 project. We are at Mase as much as possible. Red hulled Mac V22.
BTW, The new boat ramp at Trails End (AKA whiskey creak) is much less crowded than WB and closer to Mase.
Never really went anywhere tho. Just to work an awful lot.
Jack n Gina...if I didn't say before, we had a blast on your boat that last time out. I can tell you really love that centerboard config. (ie shallow water sailing) Spring will be here soon enough. Maybe we need to start talking about an early june cruise say, to the banks? I look forward to checking out that link up ^^^.
Also, where did you get those led mast lights? Do ya remember?
To the new guy in Jacksonville, Hope things are going swimmingly. I am truely sorry to have missed the chance to go on someone elses boat. That can be very relaxing. I look forward to future endeavours.
Yeap, water temp is getting close enough to 80. Time for some exploring, swimming, sailing, anchoring, and adult hydrating. All in that order for this Cap'n.
The Admiral and I will be on the water for a week starting on the holiday. Thursday night seems to be when we will bring the Charlotte back home for ice and to top the battery off. Picking up a visitor from the airport Friday afternoon, and heading back to the water Friday evening for the weekend. I may leave her at the public dock Friday, depending on batteries.
First sail of the season!!! Better late than never. Who else is gonna be out there?
Eric,
See you the day after Memorial Day! Don't know if any other Mac'rs are coming, but our two boats can hold the fort at W.Beach until reinforcements arrive..
