Mast Raising

Post by cookwithgas »

I made a video of the process of raising my mast. It offers a unique perspective since I have the furler mounted permanently and have to deal with it each time I raise and lower my mast. If anybody is interested, it's here on Youtube:

I skipped a few parts like untying everything and I had to stop when I needed to trim the bottom of the mast a little so it would clear the new boom vang fitting I bolted to the mast base. That was the real reason I was raising the mast in the back yard anyway.

Enjoy,

I was ambushed by this other Mac26X sailor who said he needed proof that I am able to setup and launch my X in 15 min. (I've always had to wait on him and his crew of miscreants for what seems like hours.... :D )

I was surprised when the video was 10 minutes... and I wasn't in a hurry.

Thought I would share too.

Cool to see this. I thought I had to use the halyard to lift the mast upright but watching you do it I see I can just Rig the side and back stay and then just lift it. Thanks for the post.
