steering boot missing?
steering boot missing?
I just got my 2000
and I am going through the whole boat to fully understand it and to "fix" anything I can before dropping it in the water. I noticed after it rained that there was some water dripping from the aft cabin ceiling. I think it is coming from the two holes in the stern where the steering cable and the engine wires come out. There are no boots on either side. I saw mention of some master cylinder boots in another thread. Does anyone have an Idea for the easiest fix for this?

I suggest you get into the aft berth and caulk where they exit after the boot is in place. Also, check the caulking in the seam in the fuel locker space - if you have a small mirror it will be easier to inspect.

We had a similar problem. The rain hit the throttle control for the outboard, and the water followed the motor cables into the aft-bunk area through the access hole in the floor under the pedestal and not from the back. We keep it covered with a smoker cover we picked up at Gander Mountain. Fits like it's custom made and never another drop of water.

Here are the "holes" that I need to seal. Any Ideas? If I can't find a boot locally I will order from BWY.
