I recently purchased a used Venture 17, I think a 1996, and it does not have a rudder, a boom, or an owner's manual. Anyone know where I can purchase these? Thanks, a newby.

Hi there, congrats on your purchase of the Venture. You can find a manual in the resources section of this sight. as far as buying a boom Dwyer Mast Co. is the best place to start. www.dwyermast.com. Rudders can be easily constructed out of redwood all you need to do is pick a style and find the hardware. Hope this helps

The V-17 has not been in production since 1975. I hope that you were not led astray by the seller.

Lots of boats are no longer being made...Why would that be an issue?

Also, Bluewater Yachts has some parts available for this boat. I believe that Ida Sailors still has a rudder available for that boat, but it's a bit on the pricey side.

not really led astray, just found some old papers in the cabin and owner of boat was admitted to nursing home and unavailalble to talk to.
