Mast support

Post by mtb_gary »

I have a 1996 :macx: with the mast support coming from the starboard side behind the lift up seat in the outboard well area. Whilst this may be useful for a hoist to bring thins into the boat (when the mast is up) it is way too far back and flexible for travelling and is subject to twisting when the mast is being pulled/pushed over it during setup and storage. The support pole coming out of the centre console is a much better place but I am unable to find any specifications on it. ie tube diameter, tube length, does the tube go right down to the deck? Are the poles (and mounting parts) available as spare parts from anywhere at a reasonable price?

Any input greatly appreciated

The mast support on my 01 :macx: is 49" overall. The actual pipe is 1" diameter, 44" length. The additional 5" is the mast support bracket attached to the top of the pole.

The mast support fits in a cylinder tube located on the inside of the pedestal (right underneath the hole the support enters the pedestal). It is secured at the bottom by a machined screw and nylon locking nut. This screw also serves as the stop for the mast support.

Good place to check would be http://www.bwyachts.com/index.html.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the suggestion. I did find it (hopefully) under the heading of "railings". I'll wait for BWY to get back with shipping details and confirmation that they are the parts.

Regards

I've worked with them once purchasing and installing furling genoa. I had a great experience working with them. I thought their prices were reasonable, and probably the best place to buy :macx: parts.
