I see two other on my way out of Aquia Creek here in VA and a lot more on Potomac Creek at the Marina. I thought there was a Google map that had Mac's listed on it.

I have the only M in my sailing area (Lake Erie east, north shore). I live on the waterfront, I've been actively sailing almost every weekend in the season (weather permitting) for the past 4+ years, am familiar with most of the boats in the 3 local sailing clubs (BCC, BYC, BBC), and I haven't seen a single X or M in all that time. Very rarely have I encountered someone that sails who's even heard of them, unless they're from outside the immediate area. I know they are quite common on Lake Ontario, and uplake in some areas.

Still looking forward to seeing the first one!

Since moving from Jacksonville to Atlanta my exposure to sailing has dropped to almost nothing. While there are a few lakes up this way its a far cry from the St. Johns River, the ICW and the Atlantic.

This weekend I had the opportunity to enjoy my friends jet boat on Lake Alatoona. While I was being pulled on the tube we cruised pass an X under sail. I waved and screamed a hearty hello but was most likely not heard. Later that day I saw what was probably the same X coming into the marina. I was driving by but stopped to snap a pic. Look close and you'll see the sailboat.

I wish I had had my camera but the iPhone was all I packed. I hope the crew had a great time; the lake was beautiful this weekend.

But last time I tried to update my boat's information I was unable to get it to work right. I will try again later this morning when I get some time.

It's been a while since this topic has been discussed. If the site will start working again there are lots of new folks to the forum that may update or upload their info so others can benefit from it.

Every marina along the Chicago lakefront, from Hammond, IN. to downtown Chicago has at least one MAC X or M easily visible.

I make a business drive from Chicago to Florida every April and I have not failed to pass a Mac X or M trailering somewhere on the trip in the last 8 years.

Continuing north from Chicago, Divecoz is in Northpoint Marina, I saw an X coming out of Kenosha a month or so ago, my M and Tom P.'s X are slipped in Racine and I saw an M in Milwaukee. Anybody from points north care to chime in?

Jim - I tried the link but the sign-in with scottatthevalley, etc. doesn't appear to work now.

Mine is the only one I've seen, but this is the first season with it, so my eyes haven't been tuned to that particular frequency for very long.

Edit: I can't sign into that map, either.

The map is a great idea though it seems fraught with problems and susceptable to sabotage by a malicious user. Couldn't one of the appointed moderators take on the responsibility of inputting locations into this database as requests come in? Even better would be some kind of tie in when you filled in your site profile.
I'm going to try again to make it work for me. This will be my second attempt so far.

I can sign in to Google via my own Google account and get the Macgregor Sailors Map to come up...but I don't have edit capability this way. I was not able to sign in using Scott's email.

I Sailed out of Winthrop harbor Il on July 30 and a

pulled in the lot to set up as I was raising my mast. They had their boat rigged, dingy inflated and were backing into the water while I was still messing with my furler

I didn't see them on the water though. They were probably down to Chicago when I was putting in!

It takes practice John you'll get it.. just keep at it..having a Roller Furler adds height to the bar for anyone and for someone new to this /these boats its all the harder ..

Actually, I should have qualified my statement by saying my observation is limited to the west end of Lake Ontario, specifically the Golden Horseshoe area. Seems most marinas I visited had several. I've been a Mac searcher/fan for over a decade, so I look out for them.

I also am judging by other peoples' responses to my boat wherever I've gone so far (this past weekend to Port Colborne canal days festival) that it is the first time they've seen one.

So they might indeed be not so common in your area.

It sounds like there are a few in the Atlanta area. I know there is a dealer up there. I have yet to see any other Mac's around Savannah though. Every time I put in, somone pulls up and ask about my

You are pretty close to Jacksonville. You should come down for the JMGT 2011 over Labor Day. If some of the guys from NC come down we may have around 10 Macs in our group.
