What To Do With My Mac 25 If I Purchase A 26 X

Post by GaryMayo »

I am close to making a leap into a new / newer boat. Leaning towards an :macx: (update: Have now see both, and I am looking for an :macx: )

I have very little money in my Mac 25. For everything working, having doubles of most everything, even sails and seat cushions, I stole it.

So, should I sell it next spring to make a couple dollars, or at least get my money back, or...

Or should I keep her as a true sailboat. I gather the sailboats are quicker than the power sailboats, when under sail.

If you had a place for two sailboats, that are so close in size to one another, would you keep both, or sell one?

I would slip one, but doubt I would slip both of them.

It might be fun to loan the Mac 25 to friends so I have someone to race on the lake. If I start to loose, I can just fire up the engine to make up the difference! lol

I could keep the Mac 25 at my home, to use on our smaller lake. It is only 200 acres, barely turn around room.

how about store it in a warm place for winter use / vacation time (fla)

dry storage should run around 100/mo maybe less.

but do you have time to use it? or room store it (2 boats)? if not just sell it...

even sitting on dry land a boat need maintenance.

Yikes ! 2 sailboats. But, me-thinks unloading the "25" would be my decision..

Happy Sailing, GARY...and, in addition, you'll like that "M" and the additional horsepower, cabin accomodations, and other funzies. You prolly' wont look back at that "25" --I betcha.

Sell the "25", buy and enjoy that new "M" in total glee. And, by the way, incidentally, I'm usually RIGHT. :D

Don't get the blue-hull, they're slower than the white hulls...that's already been proven

If I had a lake, I'd definitely have a boat on it, just for hanging about. In your situation I'd keep the M25 until I knew I wasn't using it. Considering what you paid its not losing value at all anymore--you can sell it for more than you paid even years from now.

Gary ...beauty of these boats

Tarp it, mouse proof it, and put it in the barn. In two years you know your answer. Let your brain focus on breathing in fresh air and lake views from your :macm: or :macx:

PS..my name is stephen, and I'm a boat hoarder- aholic

:macx: , harpoon 4.6, Harpoon 5.2, Island 17, optimist Harpo, optimist Groucho, T/T chunk, t/T polarbear

"HOARDING" :!: I'm often asked...what the "hull" are you gonna do with all that stored stuff >> (a barn packed full of whatever, you name it, it's prolly in there somewhere). But, I'll just blame the garage sales, thrift outlets, dumpster diving, and Sports-Shops that run "sales" -- sigh. But, heyyyy, it's fun ! And, of course, within all this "stuff" are boats, canoes, kayaks, and one restored old alum. boat (and enough collectable boat paddles to supply a Marina).

NOTE: The kids, neighbors, friends, etc. occasionally ask me: Do you have a; or may I borrow a; ( whatever ) ???? Usually, to everyone's delight...It's available. :)

HOARDING ! <<< (it's good to have it (STUFF) on hand...you -- (or the kids) -- will likely need to borrow it sometime in 10 - 40 years in the future) :D

That's what I'd do. I doubt the 25 will fetch a huge sum, so keep it for pure sailing. If after a year or two you don't sail it much, sell it.

Boston Whaler correct.

There are always a ton for sale in FL, 2k for a good 4.6, 2500 USD for a good 5.2
