If it floats on water and is designed to convey people from one place to another... it's a boat, IMHO. :)
Y'know, I never really thought about being a "boat owner" because I owned a canoe!!
I actually own TWO boats right now because of that!!

Counting the 9.5' Achilles inflatable (6hp 4 stroke), I have three. The :macm:, the Achilles, and my 1979 Phantom sailboat (14' of fun).

When it gets up on plane, that Achilles flys  No pun intended. :D

I had both a MAC25 and a MAC26M between the years of 07 to just a year ago.

And at one point I leased two marina slips for them both.

You see, for three years prior I had cut my teeth on the MAC25. She taught me to sail and how to handle the winds and the helm. I had a blast and didn't want to let her go. In a lot of ways I am saddened to have bid farewell. But to see how it all applies to the powersailor is

PRICELESS. :)

To appreciate the :macm: and abide by the rules of what the sea teaches us was not better taken than from the love and the beauty of the MAC25. I am a much better sailor because of it. I have seen too many :macm: and :macx: owners run from their 'first' sailboat simply because they know not what to expect nor what she demands. And she demands a seasoned captain to bring out the best in her.

I would take the MAC25 for what she teaches and only expect little more from the :macm: and the :macx:. But only on the power end

I've always thought its easier to learn on a small boat, than a big boat, since you have all the controls, and its more responsive to adjustments.

Actually, it's you that has to be more responsive.

I learned on the 14' Phantom, and the quick, needed reactions to the slightest changes on that small craft, made the transition from 14' to 26' a lot easier.

Looks like you got one boat and many Dinks. Get rid of all dinks except one and spend the time to enjoy. Take your boat down to the Keys and enjoy. No worries/ be happy.
I will be down at Dade Marina last week in Dec. thru Jan. 1st for good cruise. I am starting a trip thru the WCTSS for this trip.

Hey if you build one...

...PM me if nothing else and let me know how you like it. We'd like to have something to use on the couple local lakes, there are 3 withing 5 minutes of the house. I'd like to get a V-17, since we could still overnight in it if we went over to Colo. or another lake 20 miles away, but would like something with less draft and easier yet you just put in the water and go with.

I like the ...

I've also got a Jeanneau Espace 1100 in Europe for sailing on the Med in the Aussie winter. You can read about our adventures for this year at http://annieart.wordpress.com/

If you want a sail on the Med next year, we leave Marseilles about 25 May, turn left and then right at Monaco. We hope to end up somewhere in Corsica in July.

I still sail the :macm: every week back in Oz when we're home as well as crew (rail meat) on a 36 foot racer; scarey but also fun.

The :macm: is a great teacher.

He's in university there and almost done for the term...
I'm always trying to find him interesting things to do!
