All that is needed now is way of securing the beach umbrella and stopping the Champane ice bucket and glasses goin overboard!
I must admit it would be handy for loading and unloading crab pots.

Glen,
How much do you think it weighs? Also, I guess you can't raise the engine much without raising it fully first?
Really want to do this myself!

My biggest concern is raising the rudders ... that lift rope looks pretty snug behind the platform..

Too many issues.. Maybe? Incorporate its ability to Bi-fold within its self.. I agree Rope is IMHO a Bad idea.. Lifting by rope alone ?? Maybe Gas shocks to assist lift and hold in both up and down positions??

This appears to be much more than a just a swim platform. Entering from a dock without climbing over the side makes this a very great application of intelligence. If it is supported beneath, the rope may just be used to raise the platform.

No offence to whoever owns it, but this really doesnt look right on this boat........
Having said that, the Mac is more of a function over form kind of boat(from my eyes anyway), so if it works for ya, why not

Re: Check Out Swim Platform -- I want one!
My concern here is also for the rudders. They should *never* be used in a 90-degree angle as (nearly) shown in the photos. First, the leverage over the steering system is far too great, and second, they can easily be snapped off when in that position. Fully down or fully up is the proper positions, but this setup does not appear to allow full raising. No way would I have this on my boat! Plus it's just too bloody big.
If I were to install some sort of back deck or motor-well cover, this is the one I'd use or make, previously discussed here:

if your priority is to have a swim platform then the Mac won't do.
You need a different boat.

Not trying to beat a dead horse here... But I am with Octaman and Kevin on this one.. Kev that mod you show is clean neat and functional.. well designed and Attractive.. The S.S. Plumbers Dream and Deck Plank Unit ... IMHO isn't any of those.. Imagine putting some large person out there or a couple teenagers??
If your desire is...... to regularly enter and exit by means of the motor well? Folks The X is the ticket and a 50HP 2 stroke is the desired motor.. That combination simply provides the most room to board..

No need to spill any XD100 oil on the deck because most sailors only have to fill the tank once a year before they launchCatigale wrote:I would be concerned bout slipping on the excess XD100 oil caught on the deck
On second thought it is not advisable to fill the tank with direct sun light reflecting off the hatch hasp blinding the hapless XD100 provider.

The owner of this boat may think your comment is a little insensitave or inaccurate for their needs?Octaman wrote:if your priority is to have a swim platform then the Mac won't do.
You need a different boat.
Mingle this with the control rods cover shown above and you may well have a very user friendly boat for family outings.
We do not all have the same goals and desires for our Macs. I think a sugar scoop Mac would be ideal.

Re: Check Out Swim Platform -- I want one!
IMHO .. Its all about Personal Opinions.. Preferably backed up, by First Hand Knowledge.. In This case, better yet, Personal On Board knowledge.
We are discussing Issues concerning boats that most of us are pretty well familiar with.. There is a 50=70+ Lb. Unit hanging off the back of this boat issue, this unit is supported, in the down position with a rope issue.. There are Motor issues and rudder issues and sailing issues..
I am coming up with No Less Than 5 issues of concern... We talk / discuss here , a lot about projects.. and we do help one another work through issues we see. Often 2 heads is better than 1 and 20 heads is no doubt , once are the sorting is done ? We as well have seen in the past here, for close to 10 years for some and 6 years for me .. That some great ideas start out lacking and evolved into great ideas... latter .. Some ? Just never worked out..
