Experienced MacGregor Mechcanic

Post by Jason Carrier »

Anyone know where I can find an experienced MacGregor Mechanic around he DC area. The shop at my Marina does not really know how to handle sailboats.

Thanks
Jason

What do you need fixed?

You probably don't need a "Macgregor Mechanic"...you might need some advice on how to do the repair yourself. And if you have something that needs repaired I am willing to bet there are a bunch of guys on this board who have had that problem before and can give you advice on how to fix it.

Cheers,
Jim

You say Machinac. You need engine work done?

If you're having engine trouble, take the boat to a dealer for that engine. For sails and rigging, you can take the boat to any sail loft. For everything else, ask here. There's no such thing as a MacGregor mechanic.

I looked over your other posts and I see you mention steering issues. Is that what you need fixed?

There are many people on this forum that have M's and several of them have worked on steering related maintenance and repairs. Be more specific as to what repairs you are looking to do. West Marine will have most any part you need, and many heads here can talk you through getting it installed.

Jason,
C130king is correct, most of us in this area would be glad to lend a hand for a DIY project. But if you prefer to have someone do the work for you give Greg a call at Grab Bag Sail BoatsGrab Bag Sail Boats. he sells allot of used Macs and has help me with mine a number of times. He is out in Mayo it's about 50 miles from Washington Sailing Marina. Knows the Macs inside and out. Ph # can be found on his web page or PM me and I'll send it.
