I made a ....

..slug gate for our S so that we could get the sail down against ....

...the boom at the mast. That allowed the ....

...sail-pack to be lower there.
Here is a video kind of showing how it works....

...and there is more here....

Re: Where do I attach lazy jacks on the mast?
I think the cut-out area on the mast to simplify installing and removing the slugs is different for different masts. I have a 2005 26M and it has no cut-out area. The slug groove just above the goose-neck has literally been pried apart with screw driver so there is a wide enough space to slip in the slugs.
But I have seen some newer 26M's that have what looks to be a 8" long 2" wide cut-out area. I think there is a piece you can buy from BWY that is very similar to the piece that Sum made for his mast. But I have never seen one of those.
I use to use one of those "slug stoppers" that Tkanzler has pictures of (the first one). But I have lost 2 of those suckers so now after I install the main I take a short bungy around the mast (two wraps) just above that widened area of the goose-neck (maybe 2" above) and it works fine.
When I want to remove the main I just take that bungy off and as I pull down the main the slugs slip out of the widened area of the groove.
Pretty simple.
Cheers,
Jim

I was going to mention that, but didn't.c130king wrote:I use to use one of those "slug stoppers" that Tkanzler has pictures of (the first one). Maybe a simple bungie would be easier to use.
Re: Where do I attach lazy jacks on the mast?
BWY does sell a plate that covers the slot in the mast and I use it on my 26M. It's a very good solution that costs very little and requires two small holes to be drilled.
Tried the sail stoppers and they are now in Davy Jones locker - they really sucked.
Tried the bungie, not really an effective solution as this and the sail stopper stop the sail above the slot where the BWY cover plate allows the slugs to go past the slot. With the sail stuck above the slot it's hard to stow the sails and get a cover on.

Hello,
I have a lanyard attached to my slug stop. Have not lost it in 16 years of sailing. I looked for a photo of it but alas, it was just out of frame.

I'll bet that slug gate could also tune your piano to A 440....
