If you're reading this, take the time to poll your engine's HP. Let's give this one a stab.

Deja Vue?? Seems like a continuing story, we love to talk about our Horse Power. See this 'old poll' of October last year:

pouw, that's interesting. We need a place where we can register our boats, mods, engines, etc. besides here where we talk and banter.

I get a lot out of the big picture. Thanks for the link.

I've used the search many times looking for specific things and haven't quite got its idiosyncrasies down yet. But Im still learning.

I have a 1 and a half hp 'weed eater' air cooled thing that Sears and Robuck sold a few years ago. I think it says, 'Poulon' or something like that on the side. Two blades on the prop, it pushes you through the slips neat and don't forget to turn off the 'gas' when you kill it, or it will leak all over hull.

50HP Suzuki

Post by Joe Povey »

Purchased a 50HP Suzuki two years ago, for my 2001 MacX.
Only problems are: When attempting to dock, or move around at verrrry slow speeds, going back and forward, the engine quits. And, yes, I momentarily stop in neutral.Problem #2, after running the engine for 5+ minutes or so, then turn off, and try to restart.., won't turn over. Have to wait 15-20 minutes. To me it's too low on idle.
My dealer said it was dirty fuel.., so last month he cleaned out lines had raycor fuel filter put in, I was using in-line filters. Told me it wasn't idle. We'll see when splash in three weeks. Anyone have this problem?

Cheers!

i had a similar problem with my yamaha years ago when i purchased the boat. the dealer in france fixed it under warranty. he said it was a kind of carb sync problem. but your suzy doesn't have carbs... my yamaha runs flawlessly since.

H'lo Joe! Wondered when you'd drop in here ... welcome! There's a private messaging feature (PM button just below) for things that can go off-line. I sent you one so you'll see that flagged at top of this page.

I've seen your Sailnet posting about the Suzuki problem, but I've never had that happen. I don't need to pause in neutral when shifting gears, either - I'm sure that's a big annoyance.

Also I've never had any issue with failure to start. Seems like that should be easy for him to diagnose once he warms it up. Sorry to read it's still bugging you - hope your dealer is good, he should get it solved for you.
Good luck! 8)
