I usually like to give my business to local brick and mortar business - however to get my USCG required supplies (some new flares and fire extinguishers a throwable) I can order on the internet - nothing is near me. Anyone have any cheap/favorite/quality places they order this stuff from? I have all our life jackets and such, just need the expired things and a throwable. Do they not ship the flare guns and such because of the obvious explosive hazards? I've bought most of this stuff plastic wrapped like kids toys so it doesn't seem to need special handling. West Marine is so expensive. Thanks!

All of the things you mentioned are available on Amazon.com plus many more marine items. I've ordered blocks, dock lines, snap eyes, dacron lines, etc. from Amazon.

West marine is a huge rip off. 51 dollars for a quart Of white gelcoat.
Twenty five at a local place. Plus some of Thier stuff is shoddy. ESP small items. A fuse holdEr I bought broke right apart one night, turning off my anchor light.

I found a coast guard approved throwable cushion for around $9 at walmart which were available in white, red or blue. Should be in the boatin section or the outdoor area.
