Pop Top question ?

Post by Ronnie_D »

Hello:

I am wondering what is the best technique to get the pop top open on a Venture 222 ?

I do it from inside and push it up, but that is a bit awkward. Does anyone have a better way?

thanks,
Ronnie.

That's the way I have always done it on both my 22 and 25. Just make sure you have support post nearby so you can slip it into the bracket. Fair Winds and full Sails....Old Salt

I just finished installing a pair of gas struts from Master-Carr to raise the pop-top for me. I really like it. I think it's a good idea to also install a hasp or something to keep the hatch closed in case you should suddenly find yourself on your beam ends. That's not a good time for those gas struts to open the hatch. :o

I also try to push it as much with my back as with my arms, just to get it started, then jam one of the supports in as quickly as I can. The hatch on my 25 is heavy!

Could we get a part number on the gas struts?
