It looks fantastic!! I wish I had that boat lift and all that room to get it turned on its side.

If you were close, I'd invite you to come use it  I've even got an electric hoist now, that I intend to mount on the frame. Then it'll be a push button operation to hoist the boat
These boats look big, when on the dry, but they are very light weight, but I am pushing 60, so the electric winch will be a work saver.

Yep, having the room is great :) that is until every spring, when it becomes a weed farm :( lots-o-work!

Well, I am scheduled to go see the 97 Mac tomorrow morning... Hopefully it's in decent shape. It seems to have no mods from stock, which is kinda nice so I can make it how I want to. At the same time I hope that makes the price more negotiable. Right now its at 12,500 down from 15,500. Although NADA says about 10,500 average retail for boat motor and trailer...

NADAguides.com Price Report
Suggested List Price Low Retail Average Retail
Base Price $14,990 $6,850 $7,850
Options:
Cockpit Suspension Shade   $230 $260
Mainsail Cover   $65 $75
Toilet - Portable   $85 $95
Spinnaker w/Bag   $455 $515
TOTAL PRICE $14,990 $7,685 $8,795

What do you guys think?

Average retail 8800 for boat and accessories...

I figure 1500 for a good condition trial et, 2500 for 50 HP motor passing survey...

12800 a good price.....

Rethinking this....the NADA pricing on those accessories is almost the same as the new accessory price....ergo I don't think these numbers are real and are high by 50 % at least.

So, I went and saw the boat. It was a broker I was talking with and not the owner. I've known the brokers do rears though and have bought two boats form them in the past.
It's in a slip, and the centerboard and rudders are kept down wich scares me a bit. The ballast tank is also kept full which concerns me for mold and growth in there. The inside a cabin look great. The outside has a bit of oxidation but looks like it can be buffed out. The fuller seemed to have some issue going in and out., the center board, once raised was hesitant to go back down, I'm guessing from gunk. The sails are in good condition, the main looks like it could use a tune up, and it only has the bolt rope, no slugs, which is a pain.
The motor is a 2 stroke oil injected evenrude 50. The hydrolics on the motor are either shot or low on fluid, the motor would not raise on its own. The motor itself needs a tune up and the throttle has to be pushed a long way before any real reaction happens. At full throttle it didn't seem to fast, although the ballast was full. It felt like about 8 mph max.. I forgot to check my iPhone.. The check engine light was on the whole time, and the alarm beep kept coming on every once in a while.
The steering linkages seemed loose to me but I don't know how much play should be in them. There is a visible play in them and you can feel it in the steering. I'm assuming it can just be tightened.
How loose are others linkages?
The trailer is in good shape, née carpet on the bunks but that's about it. It has surge brakes.
All else seemed in good shape. It was nice to feel one on the water and see how it was. I though an see where people saw they are hard to maneuver in the docks but I got a feel for it quick and did fine. We ran out of gas right as we were coming back to the slip. :-) unfurled the genny but the wind was too light and we drifted off to the wrong side of the slips. I out one rudder up to just below water level and used it to paddle just enough to an empty slip where we could carry the gas can to fill it. Gotta have some kinda story for each outing. :-)

1. ballast tank being full in the slip is normal - althought you can certainly use it as a bargaing chip.

2. Swing keel, rudders and engine should be up - but the world won't end if they are not and you can use it as a talking point.

3. The outboard is a 2 stroke - which some areas are banning - you can use it as a talking point.

4. Play in the steering is normal.
