Stern rail seats for an X

Post by dive4it »

I went out on a Hunter 260 yesterday for a few hours that had the nice stern rail seats like those on an M model. Does anyone have a source or has anyone fabricated some for an X model? Man those would be nice to have on my boat.

Mine came with em. My local Mac dealer can install them, but that's not much use to you.

Love em!

I'm pretty sure BWY has them for both M and X. At least, they certainly used to.

Those stern seat photos do look inviting. Great for seating a group in the cockpit at the dock. But using them to load an additional 300-400 # on the stern and further immerse the transom could well increase turbulence drag and reduce sailing speed.

We generally don't sit on the stern rail seats while moving. But they are nice to sit in and be up higher.

However, they are fantastic as a seat while grilling. They really extend the cockpit.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I've got a fab shop at home so I think I'll just make some....I will post pictures and keep the jigs in case anyone else wants any made. I'm leaving for the San Juans on Friday so will be out of the loop for a couple weeks.

No, not yet Jassr, I'm sure that'll be a winter project as life is far to busy right now. I'm headed out tomorrow for the San Juans again. You can bet though, that I'll be posting in the mods when I do get down to it. Have an awesome weekend everyone!!

What's the weight capacity of those seats? I fluctuate between 230 and 250 depending on time of year, etc. Some of my guests are large like me as well. Instead of "forcing" guests to take those seats if they're small, I would like to know if I could sit up there or not w/out breaking them. LIke mentioned, probably not while sailing, but would be nice to have extra seats for guests to make more room :)
