Questions

Post by mc2 »

OK, now that I've got the :macx: to my house and spent the better part of the weekend cleaning and scrubbing I have a few questions:

1 - the control wires under the cockpit that enter through the roof of the rear berth, should they be covered up :? ? does any one have any pictures of what they've done?

2 - they say pictures are worth 1000 words, in my case, they're worth 10,000!!!! I've searched this site along with others trying to get an idea of the lines of the boat and the placement, I have to (preference) replace all of the lines on the boat as the sun has taken its toll on the existing ones and would like to run as many as possible back to the cockpit (currently, they are not) and would appreciate any advice on this if someone else has done this themselves! (adding cleats, cam cleats, blocks, etc...)

3 - after reading the original owners manual and watching a few youtube videos, reading again, and watching videos again, i finally got the mast set up, not sure if it gets better with practice, but kudos to those that can do it in 15 minutes!!!!!

4 - since I am a TOTAL newb at this, can anyone living close to central Florida recommend any good sailing schools close by? Tampa, St. Pete, Daytona, Merrit Isalnd, St. Augustine?
- I figured id save the best and most important question for last!!!! :)

Congrats on your 'new to you' Mac !!

I'm close by and can answer any questions ya might have or take a look at the boat and give you a hand getting her ship shape again. As for the sailing schools, you might try the Lake Fairview Marina http://www.lakefairviewmarina.com/sailing_lessons in Orlando. I've been there a few times and they do offer lessons at a fairly reasonable rate.

Thank you!!

I'm really looking forward to getting on the water with our new pride and joy!!!! My fiance is currently in Afghanistan until (hopefully) December this year and I promised her that I wouldn't learn how to sail without her :) do you know of sailing program that will allow you to learn on your own boat? provided they go through an inspection and are deemed "water worthy"

We have an M and I don't know how similar it is. All ped wires are inside of cable organizer.
