26Mac X Drains

When checking the battery charger located under galley stove on our 2001 Mac X I noticed water frozen in galley sink drain, also checked head sink drain frozen also and we haven't used the sinks, seems a venturie effect has occurred while heeling since the exit is under water. Using a micro furnace was able to heat drains enough to melt and drain the water. Does anyone know a reason why the drains are long enough to hold water?

I don't see a reason they should be anything other than a downhill run to the through-hull, with no trap functionality. Unless someone replaced them with longer hose.

Actually I seen in another post that a lot of people add a bend in the drains to hold water as a insect barrier so little stowaways cant get in and have their way with you! in other words its a fly and mosquito trap.

A water trap is an interesting mod if you live in a warm climate but I think the sink stoppers are much easier and you don't have to worry about them freezing...

Our PO had put in plugs for both the head and galley sinks on the outside, which was quite good for preventing water from going in and out. Wish I had noticed them before I needed them to drain out!
