Hi all does anyone know whats going on with blue water yachts i have tried all there contacts with no luck . Not after a new boat just some mac bits.

I was at BWY last week, they are still in business. Closed Sunday and Monday. This time of year it's so slow for them that they may take extra time off now and then. Plus, they just finished their showing at the Seattle Boat Show last Sunday, and are likely still recuperating. Keep trying.

I've never had much luck with their email, or maybe I'm just too impatient. But phone orders were never a problem. They've always been very good, so I'd give it a little time.

Come to think of it, I rarely have much luck with any company's email. I normally don't even bother any more.

Actually, that's really not much of a worry. The MacGregor's have made provisions for the production of fiberglass parts and have shared brief details of that plan with me, however the details remain to be published publicly so I'll wait for them to give the full specifics. But be assured, you'll have the fiberglass parts you need. As noted by MacGregor when they made their announcement, their plan is to maintain full service and support.

Further, nearly all of the non-fiberglass parts are stock items made by a selection of suppliers, all of whom still make the products and continue to supply them to manufacturers and resellers. So, the sails, spars, hardware, plumbing, stainless railings, electrics and ladder - all of that should remain available for a long time to come.

For those M-drivers who don't yet know, there is a small link on the website (http://www.macgregor26.com) called "suppliers corner", down near the bottom of the list on the left-hand side. It has a list of all the "stuff" that is supplied by outsiders for current production, including drawings for "custom hardware" and such. I suspect that those links will go away once they stop production, as they will then not need any supply of those items...but they are there for now, and you can download the information on everything from wire and adhesives and all of that to the custom-made polished stainless hardware pieces like the rotating mast brakets.

And just from my experience with BWYachts, they will get around to answering you. I have sent emails, and they do respond eventually. I had to learn a little patience too...

Wow, that supplier's corner is fantastic! Drawings of every custom part of the MacGregor M for download, and technical specs for every nut and bolt on the boat.

They answered my phone call three days ago. I ordered two mast bearings, rear cushions for the stern rails, boarding ladder, and two double cup holders that go on the stern rails. They arrived yesterday! Ordered one day and delivery the next...amazing! I also checked them out at the Seattle boat show and they have a great new product, pre-cut teak and holy floor panels for the interior and exterior helm deck. It looked great on the boat they had at the show and we're serious considering it and buying from them since this stuff, research on the web, showed this is high cost stuff to make yourself at $50 a foot and they are selling the whole thing for around $400 ready to lay.

BWY is alive and well on Lake Union in Seattle... I'm fortunate to live in the area and have dropped by or called occasionally for advice. They have always been helpful whether or not they were making a sale....

BWY has always been great for me outfitting my Mac1997 X . Have ordered all window replacements, rub rail, even the plastic access plugs for fastners.

I think they do not open till 10AM. I usually will get an email back once a week - I think they do all their web inquiries on one day - shipments another, etc. If you call them on the phone after 10 AM on a weekday (that is NOT a Monday) they will answer you in person. (I suspect a lot of their people work from home - I do - it's the smart way to work).

They sent out my package just last week real fast and UPS was supposed to deliver it today - but at noon today UPS changed my delivery status from "OUT FOR DELIVERY to "LEFT AT UPS FACILITY - DELIVERY RESCHEDULED" but they still have not posted what the "RE-SCHEDULED" date is!!! (Stupid UPS - now I wonder if I will even get my package).


But that is a UPS screw up - not a BWY screw up.

Actually their hours are pretty long for a boat dealer - most boat dealers like Stan Miller and others are only open 2 or 3 days a week and do most business by appointment only. BWY is open four days a week and even has a marine hardware store doing shipments and stocking parts - most boat dealers do not do that.

Remember - BWY is not West Marine.

(Just call West Marine and try to get a bearing for your mast!)
