Borrowed from "BOAT"
Attach roller furler to mast raising line the goes to bow cleat. When raising mast the furler drum will be held off the deck and slide down to meet the hole where it is pinned.
This is brilliant and I wish I knew it before I scratched my deck with the furler hardware.

I read this before I left for the ramp....I still forgot....yukonbob wrote:Hook up steering linkage before you decide to leave the ramp. Makes things easier
New tip: Don't forget to have a dock line on the boat when you FORGET to connect the steering....I did not have a line on! (I got all the bugs out first, everything went perfect from that point on...even had some wind to sail in

I forget to re-connect the linkage (bwy quick connect system) cause i lock the ob each weekend before i leave so it's not smashing around in the transom. Get twenty feet from the dock and think 'wow she's not responding like normal…oh crap" Only twice this year so far!

When launching the boat and it won't come off the trailer at the normal position, immediately suspect that you forgot to remove the transom straps BEFORE you notice that the trailer's floating.

Get handy with a boathook. Learn how to grab a cleat with it and how to push of softly from another boat. Get one that floats, and put it on clips on the cabin-top stanchions so it's out of the way but always at hand.

Never, ever leave your boat in the water for more than two weeks without bottom paint anywhere between the tropics.
Re: Tip of the day ...Post yours
Make a check list for each boating item:
1) Rigging
2) Launching
3) Leaving Dock
4) Preparing to Dock
5) Loading Boat on Trailer
6) Derigging and getting ready to tow.
7) Other boating tasks like anchoring etc.

If your boat looks like it's riding high on the trailer when hauling out, check to see if you rudders are still down!

Remove the Windex Wind indicator when trailering. I have the one that mounts on the vhf antena. Within a mile, the little bugger will spin like a turbo-prop, push the little hold down bushing thingie off, and fly away, never to be seen again.
