Cockpit floor weight limit
Hi all,
I've been through all the info I could find about the weight limit on the
cockpit floor but haven't been able to find anything so I thought I'd turn to the experts
. I'm planning on heading out with a couple of buddies next weekend who are on the larger size one's 6'2" and about 225 lbs the other is 6'6" and ~400lbs and then there's me at 160lbs. So all together where close to 800lbs. This got me thinking about what kind of weight that cockpit floor might be able to hold. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I'm about 230Lbs, and the floor holds me up OK. I would have thought you would be fine....

I would think the cockpit will be fine. However, that's a lot of weight and you will need to balance everyone. Good counterweight in a heavy wind, just be fast to move during tacks.

I'm 6'5", 260 lbs., and I've got sailing with a guy whose 420 lbs., as well as 1500 lbs. of human ballast total (more than anyone should). There's nothing to worry about in terms of structural integrity, but I wouldn't let those big guys go topside and grab the mast on a serious heel.

Wow, we have some big sailors here. Lucky for me I don't have to reveal my 5'-11" and 225 lb stature. Phew!

We'll just need to add a couple of 100 lbs ladies to help balance the load and make the cramped conditions more bearable

Re: Cockpit floor weight limit
When I have >4 aboard, or roughly >650 lbs, I keep the water ballest in even, when not sailing.
I think there is a factory recommendation also to that effect.

I also forbid transiting to the bow topside if we've got more than 4 people aboard. Down through the cabin and up through the hatch if you want to go forward. That's also our rule for anyone under 14. Only person who gets to pull the boat over in an emergency is me.

handled.... the same; the boat always surprises me

Wow, I'm 5' 4" and 160. Single-handing, I am starting to understand some of the variables that help my BF50 pop my
up on a plane so easily.
