Any suggestions for cleaning and waxing!

Post by Kaylee »

Hey guys I am just getting ready for my first full season with my 2001 26x.
Do you have any recommendations for products to use to clean and wax the fibreglass! Also when the boat has been closed up and it gets warm outside when you open it up the odour (I assume coming from the bilges) can knock you back a step or two. Any suggestions for products and methods to cut down on this odour would be greatly appreciated! I am located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada so hopefully the products you may suggest can be purchased around here. Thanks in advance for your help!

I've used Meguire's Cleaner Wax with great success. If you have an area that's oxidized thry a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sold at the grocery store. They clen things up great...

When we bought our 26x, one of the first things we did was pull out all the misc. stuff that was in the storage compartments, and thoroughly clean these bilge areas with a bleach/water solution.

You might want to consider installing a solar ventillator to help get some air circulating through the boat when it's not being used. Also, keeping all the seat cushions (and the wood pieces that cover the compartments) partially dislodged (so that air can circulate through the bilge area) helps too.
