Mast raising: rope length?
Hello
Does anyone know the rope length of the mast raising system?
There are two parts, one goes to the front and the other from the winch to the mast.
I couldn't find any information at bwy nore at macgregor.
Thanks all.

Don't know whether you're deliberately making a custom solution, or perhaps just inadvertently over-complicating the existing solution.
I don't use any extra lines. I use the mainsheet and the spare jib halyard. Jib halyard attaches from near-head of mast to rear end of mast-raising pole. Mainsheet 4:1 block and tackle runs from fore of mast-raising pole to eye on deck. Haul on the mainsheet and you've got a 4:1 lift on the mast.

Re: Mast raising: rope length?
The rope that goes on the winch is 15 ft. and the rope that atteaches to the bow cleat is 11 ft.
Don't forget the baby stays as they keep the mast from rotating when raising and they are 72 inches plus a little for thimbles and swaging. The baby stays are a cable for strength. I will try and add pictures later.
Hope this helps.

Re: Mast raising: rope length?
I'm replacing my rope too, my current line is actually 19 feet (for sure it has at least 2 extra feet on it). My question is what size and type of rope should I get? Working load seems to be greater than the 200 lbs of standard home depot grade braided nylon, but 1500 lbs of Sta Set...doubt it. I would think 5/16th would be an appropriate size. Can someone recommend a brand?

Just received my winch and lines for MRS. 15' on the winch and 12' to the bow and it works great!

Re: Mast raising: rope length?
Seriously ! Go to Home Depot and spent ten bucks on a 100 foot roll of nylon rope. you can throw away the excess or hang it in the carport. It's just a mast raising stick, not worth stressing over.
Re: Mast raising: rope length?
The working load for Nylon at Home Depot was advertised as about 200 lbs. It seems to me that at the initial stage of raising the mast, that the load would be greater than 200 lbs. Maybe I'm over analyzing this...

Re: Mast raising: rope length?
About 350 lb, by my calculations. Same as the rated capacity of the winch.
