Hi Everybody:
I just picked up my new 2005 M with 60 HP Yamaha four stroke last weekend. I had my first sailing lesson from the dealer and took the boat out with just my son the next day. We were actually able to sail without hurting ourselves or anyone else.
My dealer mentioned that he was having a harder time getting new boats. I thought I read a thread on this board about a production cutback. Does anyone remember seeing that thread? If so please post a reference.
This is a great site and I have learned a lot about my boat from lurking here for the last few months. Thanks to all of you who generously share your knowledge and experience.
Production Cutback
I just completed a factory tour at Macgregor when I was out in California about 10 days ago. While not operating at sweatshop pitch, they seemed to have two boats in process in each room.............their normal output I believe is about two boats a day as I recall. There was 15-20 of them out back for delivery.
Congratulations to you Win. It me who posted the message about a cut in the boat production. My boat should be ready next week; however, it has been delayed by six weeks. I should get it by the end of May. According to my dealer ( I live in Salt Lake City, Utah) MacGregor got some environmental problems so their production was cut from three a day to two a day.
When did you order your boat?

Moe, think about it, immigration comes through every three months and that slows production quite a bit.........much of the labor are day workers. Not many of them have been there a long time, as I understand it. Who is gonna tell me I am wrong? Let me have it......but, have you been to the factory???? Hah! Glass is hard work and many times the hard workers are the guys who haven't been here too long. Not starting a fight here, but like many businesses in California, there are workers who look legit until immigracion comes in.
Also, with suppliers being not reliable, MacGregor is under the gun constantly like others trying to make a product.

Maybe it just Chicago
But from what I saw Sunday and hear around town about the only big tickets toys selling really well
are Dodge Vipers
I say that only because of all the new ones I saw out and about Sunday on my ride. Moe says RVs are selling HOT. . . . I don't know any of those folks so I cannot tell you yes or no . But I do know first hand that every hotel on the island of Cozumel / Cancun / PDC /Peurto Adventuras has been running about 90% for close to two years now. Sooooooo people are spending money but IMHO they may be spending it differently ??
Condos and Homes are going up at a frantic pace as well through out the entire Mayan Riviera those are running 250K to 1 million(few are on the beach for tose prices ) and there is a waiting line for most of them . Design change I just don't think so but maybe, however the ONLY good Corvette was my 72 and dang it all, if they dont seem to sell a lot of the new ones though . Same goes with everything else .

Hey Guys,
I was at the factory today to purchase some parts and had to wait 5 min's in Bills office while he was discussing production and deliveries with his mgr's to dealers around the country-bottom line- their production will not keep up with all the orders that are comming in. It was very interesting seeing how they allocate their supply to the various dealers, its NOT first come, first serve!!!
