Gday All

Post by tom »

Hi Folks, just wanted to say a quick hello as a new owner of the 26x model....I'm located in Bathurst but frequent Sydney regularly so my sailing grounds at the moment are the lakes around us and anywhere coastal...My boat has a very unusual rig setup which I'm trying to work through (no wire backstay, furling headsail on a headstay but thats connected to a rope etc) so I'm getting her ready for a planned week exploring Port Stephens during the kids' school holiday :)

Hi Tom, read your post in the general topic forum, you do indeed appear to have a non standard rig. I dont like the idea of using any kind of line other than steel cable for a forestay and if you look on the rear starboard side, just above the serial number plate you will see where your rear stay use to be fixed, I recommend replacing it. It should be steel cable and a chainplate at the bottom. Happy to show you the ropes on the :macx: all you have to do is come for a visit to the Sunshine Coast. good luck with your rig and learn how to post pics as quickly as possible. Den.

Hi to another Mac owner...I had a miss spent youth at Mitchell CAE....a 5 year party in Bathurst....remember the place fondly
Not much sailing there though...whats your closest water body of any size?

Thanks all, i think she's sorted out now but will be taking her on the water to check the lot :) we've a few waterways round here...wyangla lake/dam is probably biggest (claims of being bigger than sydney harbour in water volume) then there is the beautiful lake lyell...and a couple of other dams that are big enough to sail and spend time on....but the coast isnt that far either...about 3 hours trailing and we've got a choice of central coast, sydney or the gong areas..
