Re: Medical Emergency While Cruising in the Broughtons
Hang in there Mike. Our thoughts, well wishes & prayers are with you and Sandy. You guys have always been a shining example to us on the board. From your Mac handywork, posting insights, the teamwork that is evident in your life & accomplishments. And your faith. Without getting on a pedestal, you've given quite a witness. May your faith steady you both through these tubulent waters.
I only hope your modesty doesn't blind you to how well you've done in this most difficult cicumstance. In 20 years of emergency response I've seen many well intentioned family members stand there helpless while their loved one needed action. You Acted to the best of your ability - which is substantial. & you did a most generous thing, you shared- once again. & in so doing, you've helped us All to consider & plan ahead. "Ya dun good kid"
Thank you again & God Speed.

Re: Medical Emergency While Cruising in the Broughtons
Thanks to all for your kind words and encouraging sentiments. I'm happy to report that Sandy continues to do very well. She's currently with our son's family while I and a friend retrieve the boat. We flew up to Echo Bay by floatplane on Thursday, and have been working our way back down. I'm continuing to post on the return trip, and managed to get some posts uploaded here at Blind Bay Marina, where we're staying for the night, before going through Dent Rapids tomorrow. I plan to keep on posting.

Re: Medical Emergency While Cruising in the Broughtons
We were able to successfully close the loop on our Broughton cruise. Sandy continues to do very well. A little over a week ago I dropped her off to be with our son's family, while a friend and I flew back up to Echo Bay to retrieve the boat. We spent a week bringing her back down. The trip covered over 300 nautical miles. Weather was good and the boat performed well. We started at 4:30am on each of the last 3 days, and averaged over 60 miles per day, doing my usual 5.5 knots. Long days, but I was eager to get home. We drove home today, through the recently burned Tumwater Canyon on US Highway 2, and the boat is once again parked in our driveway, patiently waiting for me to unpack gear and clean her up. She's got quite a bit of growth from sitting in salt water for 5 weeks, so I have a bit of scrubbing and scraping ahead of me. All in all, we have a lot to be thankful for regarding how this cruise worked out. Both Sandy and I are happy to be home again.
