Re: Oceanside Slip
I don't have a slip but if you contact the Harbor Master I bet they can set you up with a guest slip for a pretty long period of time.
I always park 'boat' on the side of my house

Re: Oceanside Slip
Guest slips are $27/day for our boats. I don't think there's a maximum time.
I don't think any of the Mac guys slipped on oceanside are on this forum.

Re: Oceanside Slip
No there is no one out of Oceanside here but me. There are very very few MacGregors in Oceanside. I am the only M boat in Oceanside. There is a 26D skipper but I think he is trailering in from San Marcos. I have only seen 2 MacGregor boats in slips in Oceanside, and both are X boats. Of those 2 I only know one (Nick) and he pretty much knows everyone slipped in the harbor so if there were any other MAC's he would have told me.
You can't really sail around in Oceanside Harbor; it's too small. The harbor is just a place to get on the boat and head out to sea. All the boats here are pretty much ocean going "blue water" skippers.
The MAC is considered by most in the boating community as a "day-sailer" or a "protected water boat" not properly suited for open ocean sailing so most of the people I know who have MAC's are down in the big bay of San Diego where they can sail around all day with no swells or waves in the protected waters of the Big Bay.
Remember Robin Lee Graham? He was that kid who at 16 sailed around the world in a 24 foot boat? Well that was my hero when I was a kid so I was always sailing tiny boats out in the open ocean since I was very young. I had a 12 foot Koralle Jr. that I used to sail from Dana Point to Newport all by myself all the time. I'm strange - I don't seem to mind sailing the pacific in a tiny boat but I'm probably strange. There are no other MAC's here in Oceanside because none of the MAC skippers want to be out ion the open ocean all the time like I do.

Re: Oceanside Slip
Thanks everyone, I went down to Oceanside and talked to the harbor police. They gave me some info on who to talk to about renting a slip for a leaser. Just trying to save a little money. To rent from the harbor it will cost close to $1000.00, from a leaser maybe around $400.00. I've owned my 95 X "T L Sea" for fifteen years now. Sailed to Mexico with seven other Macs from this site around ten years ago. Spent four weeks on it doing the Channel Islands eight years ago. bought dclark's X a few months ago. Another long time Mac owner and member of this board. I Got to love Macs.

Re: Oceanside Slip
I'm actually going to be in SD on business the week of Labor Day. Landing around noon on the 2nd and staying at Paradise Point near Sea World. Am thinking about renting something for a few hours just to sail around the bay a little. Any suggestions? My
is my 3rd boat not counting Snarks and Sunfish. I've had a Jet 14, and an Edel 580, but most of my sailing has been on the Hudson River and medium to large lakes.

Thanks! that would be a treat and a half. I'll PM you my contact information and find out where to get my shots. As much as I love sailing, I can't quite afford to catch a case of 38' Oceanis-itismastreb wrote:I can take you sailing if you'd like.
