captains seat help

Post by ozz »

my wife and I are short in stature (she is 4'8"). I would like to find a seat we can put on the captains seat that would give us a little more height. It would have to be detachable. any ideas out there? I have looked at seats for fish boats, but they all connect to a pedestal or brackets.
No "booster seat" jokes please, we have heard them all..ha ha.... :D . we have a 26m. :macm: Thank you very much

Check out Bottomsiders. They're not cheap, but they're good cushions and they have a 'Hump Helm Cushion' ($135) that fits on the transom seat that will raise you up considerably. I have a set of their cushions including the Helm Hump on my boat and they're great - I'm 5'11" but when the nose rises up on powering at full blast this helm seat gives me the ability to still see forward nicely. Please see my related older forum post here:

I just stack two or even three type IV PFDs on the helm seat. I have four of them on the boat, so there's still one or two to go around, if I'm too lazy to put the cockpit cushions out.

Not really much of an answer, but it's an option at least.

Ditto. Get a new one every year from BoatUS - starting to use them in the house now. :D

Where did you get the helm seat and back rest? I've been looking for something like this.
