If he isn't getting any "fancy" toys, then he is being overcharged! straight and simple!

But if he would cut his hand buttering bread, then self made mods are out of the questions and then he has to pay "what the market" will bear, I guess.

You yours

In the storage area where my boat is there is not a day that goes by when Im there that someone doesnt come by to chat with me about the boat. I like people and will share whatever info I have. Inmon should give me a commission as I sent him a few people that I know bought boats.
Really though I like to see the interest. I did notice a few things on the invoice the guy had that wasnt there when I bought mine. And there can be a case made for not having to many things on the options list as most people will want all the options and now your taking a 25000 dollar boat and the finale cost is up to 40,000. Thats getting close to a decent used keelboat. Although it wouldnt be portable like the Mac. And you would have to put it in a slip.
For me I havent ever taken the mast completely down and trailered since I bought it. This will be the first time next week. And I will see for myself if the portability of the Mac is all it cracked up to be. It took me last weekend Over two hours to drop the mast secure everything and get it ready for my trip but It was the first time and I did have to make the 4 inch PVC support for the furler.

Another note: on a boat I would consider instead of the Mac, There are a few corsairs (I think thats how you spell it) at the storage lot Im at.
These boats have three hulls and are fast. Two weeks ago a Corsair owner came and asked me to help him lower his mast. I jumped at the chance to check this 28 footer out.
New these boats go for 120,000 when I got up on deck and saw below I was shocked. The boat is not roomy, there is very little comfort below, and it comes with a small outboard for power. The owner said he has sailed at speeds near 18 mph, but normally around 12mph. He asked how fast the Mac will go under power I replied that I would be on my second buffalo milk in Catalina by the time he got there if we left at the same time. Had to throw that in...Anyway the point is I see all kinds of boats that might be a better choice looking from the outside but none seem to compare to the comfort inside for the size. Open and roomy is what the Mac has. So maybe Inmon doesnt owe me the boat will sell itself.
Is it worth 40,000? I guess it is. It just kind of took me back when I saw the invoice.

I'm one of those guys with one screwdriver but have subsequently bought a battery charged drill, saws, and many other tools to work on my 26x. That said, I've paid professionals for most of my mods, and I have almost all of them. I've done simple things myself, but am happy to pay people to do things I know will take me days to figure out-- that's why I get paid to do things I enjoy for a living.

My father wasn't a tool happy fix-it kind of guy(tho I wish he was) so I pretty much start from scratch if I did each mod. I've learned a bunch, and love having the boat in my backyard for simple maintenance and oggling. I have found that sometimes less is more-- I have taken off many things that are not essential (such as dishes, space heater, food) unless you live on the boat. I do like to double up on safety items(anchors, gps, motors, sails). I plan on keeping this boat pretty much forever, so am not worried about recouping money on pricey items like a nice dodger, stereo, radar, autopilot.

The boat is such an inexpensive overall value, I am now stretching my imagination on way to spend more money for boat things. It is fun taking things off and putting them back, depending on the next type of trip I take. Off to Catalina 2 harbors this thursday-friday!

Im over 40K on my financial projections! Yep 90% dealer install & top shelf electronics package due to exactly what Theo said tax purposes. and maybe some laziness on my part now but Ill be fixing all the lose ends the dealer messes up Yes sir I am a little sticker shocked too, but do the numbers; 19/20K new bare boat, 1500 trailer upgrades, 3K electronics, 6/7K additional mods fitted to my specs, 6K power plant, 3k sails/rudder/bracket/hardware upgrades, now add dealer commissioning & uncle sam you bet it will be around 40K about the price of a good truck but a lot more bang for the buck & I can write off some of it over the years. Glad I already have something to pull this rig with so not another 35/40K to explain to you no who! Either way for what Im building & using this boat for its a bargain hands down all day

Aya this boat is being built for other than casual lake usage and day sailing. I have blue water & Great Lakes experience both power & sail. My 1st planed boat for my current planed purposes was a Corsair 31CC or Farrier F33 Tri, Ive sailed both and spending a week on the 31CC is not comfortable living wise so about 6 months ago I was driving down I-10 in AZ headed for Mexico and someone blew by me doing close to 90mph with this Blue thing hanging off the rear end of an older Dodge Ram dully boat trailing steady as could be. I dont no who you are but if your on this list you had a beautiful rig Im figuring it was a delivery cause the boat look to be shrink wrapped. So the Light Bulb went off in my head that night after a few Reserva de Casa Tequilas for the cost of a 31CC or F33 outfitted to my specs I could finish my housing plans in Mexico fully outfit a M26 my specs white hull buy a Moorings 4000 catamaran lease it back to The Moorings Charter Fleet done this before with CSY 44 you guys in FL will no what I talking about & the boat have 9 weeks owner privileges in 9 of the most desirable Cruising Grounds in the World and have enough pesos left over for another bottle of primo Tequila and thats exactly what I doing Good Lord Willing

Oh yeah boo-coo tax advantages; accountant said finance max on boat since Im not doing any US financing on my Mexico digs as a second home & charter lease back is separate entity with its own tax advantages which I'm familiar with from ownership in past charter boats

I'm going into my 4th season with "Susie-Q" and like every one else here I went out and bought a large box full of projects. I even went so far as to schedule when I was going to have everything installed. Alas! Everything is still in the box. The paradox here is when the weather is perfect for going to the marina to work on the boat, it is also perfect to go for a sail. Guess which always wins out? :D One day I will open that box and I might surprise myself with what necessities I have in there. :)
