Bought a 31 gallon plastimo water tank and a Flo Jet Quad water system pump. Built a manifold of 1/2 pvc so I can fill the bag and use the same pump to supply water to the two new faucets. All I have is three valves and this allows me to fill the bag from my 7 gallon water jugs and then just turn valves and the pump sends the water to the sink from the bag. Here is a picture of the manifold:
The plastimo literature says bag is 10 inches tall but as you can see you better have 13.5 inches to clear the fittings
Here is a picture of the bag from above. This bag has 29 gallons in it. The pump filled the bag at 3 gal per minute. The pump cut on is 22 psi and cut off is 35 psi. so there is good flow at the faucet. This pump has an internal bypass so is pretty quiet and runs until you shut off the faucet. In fact it will a one gallon bucket in 30 seconds with the faucet.
How frequently will the bag be emptied. How long will the water remain before fresh water replaces the sitting water. I ask because vegetation can grow in warm, non flowing conditions.
I have the same water bladder in my M. It is an excellent product, but lack of use always concerned me. Fungal growth in bag, connecting tubes, the pump, etc.
Others who have a water bladder use it for washing purposes, but not for drinking water. They have posted that the water taste funny.
All of this is to make you aware that you should be attentive to water quality.
This will be our main drinking water source, so it will be used daily as we travel the loop. We have a prefilter on the hose so all water is filtered as it enters the boat. Also there is a 10" carbon filter before the water gets to the sink. We are using food grade plastic lines that are very clear so we can watch for growth in the water lines. The water jugs and the plastimo should be filled using 1 teaspoon of straight household bleach per 10 gallons of water whenever you notice funny taste or odor in the water. We plan to do this on every other fill. Our filter is a 5 micron carbon block filter that will completely remove the chlorine. We are planning on 3 gallons of water per day per person if anchored out which is 7 or 8 days of water if needed. It will be a learning process. If you day sail or just overnight occasionally you could put the bleach in the bag every time or double the bleach if it sits for a while then rinse and put the 1 teaspoon in before going out. Thanks for asking.
While YMMV, I'd recommend using ur water system for all else & getting a gallon or so of drinking water, kept in sink. I have a deep sink, so this works for me. & I use my water sys for transom shower & dishes. While the water goes fast so can the build up. Ur first inspection & cleaning may learn you. Also watch for leaks- they can be notorious
I had to look up YMMV. I'm still not exactly sure I understand. Here are the meanings I found; Your Mileage May Vary, Yam Mild Mosaic Virus (virology), Your Method May Vary, Your Market May Vary (advertisement), now here is my very favorite.......drum roll please........You Make Me Vomit
Now Greg, please tell us which of those is what YMMV is an acronym for?
ris - nice looking rig you got there. Only one suggestion. You might want to consider a flow restricting aerator or low-flow faucet to reduce the flow rate - to reduce water consumption. Sounds like you've got a nice pump with great supply pressure. That's going to be excellent.

+1
Everyone finds a system that works for them. I don't use the small bottles but love old milk cartons, just for the convenience of it. I find we generally use about 1.5 a day making coffee, drinking and the dog dish. Found it more convenient to just pour from a jug then the faucet and casually refill a few gallon jugs every 2-3 days and main tank less often. I built a shelf just for them I like them so much Only downside is they are only good for a month or two of constant use before they need swapped out.
well I use the bigger water bladder stored under the aft berth.
works great! BUT:
I do not have to much confidence. Once the bladder got a whole, all water came out
So if you store the water for a bigger trip you cannot really trust on it becouse the bladder is not save, can get a whole any time (so I carry a glue and a repar skin with me all time...) The material is quite thin.
For the next I would prefere a material for a water bladder used like with the dinghis.
By the way: Who knows what a style is the water tank made in the new ?

Ray
you make me vomit
Boy, that's killer.
I got "your mileage may vary" as an expression from this site. Now Ris & Ray have it too. I'm still in the Keys for a few weeks. Or until the divorce papers are filed. Haven't moved the boat. Gonna still see if I can meet up with Ixneigh & Norca.
Btb (by the bye) Use your water system the way you like, Ris. I just looked back at some first entries I made in a journal 9 years ago, when I first bought Miss Ollie. Some issues have remained, like leaks & water & up up updating electronics & engines
I'm researching fresh water systems for my boat. Can you post a schematic of your system? I'm also wondering if a vent is required for a bladder system and if so, where is it located?
Thanks!
