Installing Ev 100 Auto pilot on 26m

Post by Lmaraist »

I have completed the installation of a Ev 100 raymarine and am in the calibration part. I am having difficulty getting the correct r udder angle and hard over time correct. It appears the angle should be somewhere between 30 and 40 degrees but I am either to high or to low. Has anyone had success and if so what degree did you end up with. I am guessing 6.5 on the hard over time but not sure. I have the 60 hp evinrude but I don't think that makes a difference.

I installed the EV-100 on my 2007 26M this spring. I also installed the rudder feedback arm- it works very well as long as I have at least one rudder down (motoring or sailing). If I'm motoring without a rudder down, the boat goes into a continuous "S" curve. I'm not near my boat now but 40 degrees seems higher than mine-did you install the rudder feedback arm?

No, I did not install the arm or the rudder sensor so I have to manually determine the degree. I know that 40 is too high and after further fooling around my guess the correct degree is somewhere between 30 and 35 but I am not sure. Any thoughts on the hard over time.

I installed the same system on my 26M and used the following posting, from "mastreb" as a guide and it all seems to work for me.

http://www.macgregorsailors.com/forum/v ... opilot+26m

"On my boat, it took 17.3 seconds to drive the rudders from hard-over to hard over. 149 seconds from "easy" stop to easy stop. I used 14 seconds as the confuguration number and that has worked well.

Thanks that is a great help, for my boat 30 seems a bit short so I will try 32 degrees and your 14 seconds hard over. Sea trial next.
