Not a lot more room overall but there is a Norsea 27 with trailer for sale in Juneau AK craigslist aft cabin model. Meets most of your criteria. We had considered 33-34 but decided to go a little bigger and not have to move up when we decide to cast off and go cruising. We hope this is our last big boat. Big enough to be comfortable and raise the boys but small enough to single hand or short hand with just me and the admiral and cavernous storage.Wayne nicol wrote:i feel similarly to you.
i just find mya tad too small- not as good a sailer as i would really like- and hate the euro styling
so am in the process, with chosen NA- designing a motor sailer- 33' ish x 10'- totally trailerable. water/lead ballasted. inside helm station. pilot house. full amenities. removable tiller steer. twin dagger boards. but with old school salty lines- kind of retro motor yacht x sleek schooner type sail hull. many different sail plan options- but a modern boat under the old school appeal.
i know how you feel YB- just need something a wee bit more than the mac- more space- and there just really isnt anything out there in the market place for that- so i have resorted to building my own- might be a lot quicker, cheaper and easier if we could just find something to buy!!

Re: Mac-less
very pretty little boat indeed. cant find it on line- what was it going for?
my planned size was restricted by its "towability".
10' wide makes for a nice 33" loa- and should fall sub 10 000 lbs- to be able to tow with a 1 ton truck easily.
i still like the higher speeds that the macs can give- and as such the new boat will also have higher attainable speeds- plan on twin outboards- about 70 hp each- should give the same speeds as the mac. but with twins for redundancy!
it is designed in such a way- that it can be motored with the masts on deck- in the gallows. so it can run in true powerboat mode- but without leaving the rigging at home!
so often, the weather is just perfect- the salmon are running, and we just want to go out for a few hours in an evening and get some fish- with all the rigging and de-rigging on the mac- too much time is lost. with my old powerboat- i could leave home, and be in the water, run out to the fishing grounds and be fishing in 45 mins to 1 hour tops!
would love to see some pics of your boat as you get more!

Re: Mac-less
In general, the overall maximum width of a trailer or its load is 102". At 10' you would need to obtain a permit each time you wanted to take a boat of that width onto the road, so that would really limit its trailerability.
With the goalposts installed on my X trailer I am just below the legal limit. When I had PVC goalpost extensions on the original trailer, the tops of the goalposts just exceeded 102" and I was risking a fine.

heya starscream
max trailerable width here in bc is 8'6"
between that and 10 ' its an annual permit. and between 10' and i think its 14- then its an over the counter day permit- single use
over that and its special permits/ oversize etc- havent really looked into that side of it.
i figured on about 9'10" just to be safe, ensuring that the boat is wider than the trailer- will always keep me legal- and i also have permanent goalposts on my
trailer- but thinking the goalposts on this bigger boat will be removeable- after loading the boat- remove and travel!
cheers

I recon that up there you could sail for years visiting a different island every day and still not explore all those coves and inlets, that is magic sailing waters

Do you actually LIVE in Victoria BC? I mean are you close to Craigdarroch Castle? I might have some relatives close to you.

I'm not on my way and when I do go I keep my head low - (got into a little trouble there once hanging with 11th providence folks) - but one of my safe houses is right next to Craigdarroch Castle (I know a few janitors and maids in the area).
The next time I am there I will arrange for scotch near CC

Hey Cliff,Flightfollowing wrote:Bob,
Make damn sure you have a boat ready for "northern roundup 2017" early next summer, as you said earlier in this thread ".. I'll also still host a northern roundup but I'll prob be at the back of the pack from now on" I'm holding you to that statement!
I doubt you will be at the back of the pack with whatever boat you find (if we sail, otherwise motoring you might be).
Anyway, after leaving you and Dick last summer I spent close to 2 weeks in or around Juneau and there were at least 2 Mac 26m's in the marina I was in, maybe you can borrow one or convince them to join NR2017?
Of course you are always welcome to crew with us for NR2017, but I am pretty sure my seamanship skills would try your patience. Cliff
Got any dates in mind for NR2017?
