Bimini 2017

Post by whgoffrn »

Wondering if anyone would be interested in a flotilla to Bimini June 2017. I realize that is quite a ways out but a trip like this might require some more prep work than the usual.

Not 2017, but I've been looking at 2018 pretty hard.

I am considering one for May 2017 (June is always reserved for BEER cruise). I would like to do something like what the Conch cruisers and many other have done: go from Homestead, cross from Angelfish Creek to Bimini, spend a few days between Honeymoon Harbor, Sapona, more beach time and Coronas, head back somewhere around Miami and go south on the ICW back to Manatee Bay.

BTW, your link goes from FT Lauderdale which seems pretty far north for BImini on a sailboat

Junes a bit late for me. Boats usually out by then. Earlier maybe.

I'm flexible on anytime in the summer ... as long as kids school is out .... if there is anyone interested.. like REALLY interested please post on this thread so we can get a head count of some boats willing to go so we can all collectively put our input together on where to leave from ....angel fish creek? Dates times etc etc exchange numbers and get the ball rolling

My email is [email protected]

Don't mistake my eagerness to go as being a seasoned veteran sailor ...I am somewhat a rookie having only owned my boat for 2 years now but my boat has been a few miles from shore on a few occasions and I regularly sailed the icw in fl prior to moving up north. If it looks like this may happen this winter I will be replacing all stays hardware lines and sending the main off to bwy to have 3rd reef put in main and all necessary gear to reef main from cockpit.

Just curious if anyone is up for it

Life's' too short to miss it! ; Count me in - (718) 702 4292. Maybe we can get a cohesive suggested list (of trip supplies/suggestions) we can all draw from since some have made this trip and others haven't? :macm: 8)

Here's my suggestion.... last week in July... the reason being is its all about catching a good weather window if the weather is too sketchy to cross the stream the 26 and 27th is mini lobster season and can just make a trip to the upper keys for some lobster

I don't check this site that often but will try to check it once a week or feel free to text

Sounds good to me - though, all things being equal, I look forward to making the Bahamas; kind of a bucket list destination by Mac if you know what I mean! The closer we get, more we will make contact by phone and connect to interested parties for the flotilla.

Sorry but after much thought and looking at how much vacation I have built up and safety being kept in mind I don't think I'll be up for a trip to Bimini until I can build up and sit on more vacation days so in the event a front or tropical storm rolls through I won't lose my job if I have to wait it out for a week or two ...so regretfully am planning a trip to the keys now
