tachometer quit
The Tachometer on my 26m quit working. All the indicator lights work (oil, etc). checked all wires and batteries are charging ok. If it was a wiring problem, would the warning lights still go through their start up check? I have an etec 50hp. is there a way to test the tach before buying a new one? thank you.

Having just had to replace my Etec due to a blown EMM I would not touch the electronics on these motors, to be safe take it to an Evinrude dealer as the EMM controls the Tachometer. At least if the EMM dies in their custody Evinrude may replace it at no cost. The EMM is just too susceptible to damage from stray electrical problems too risk it.
