Re: YAY!!!!! IT"S BACK!!!!
Hi all,
Sorry for the delay getting the site back up. I'll need to bring it down again at some point for updates, but for now at least it's running again. PayPal is nice on my end because it makes it easy for me. However, if you need to use physical mail, a moderator can provide my address if they are willing.
Wishing everybody a Happy New Year.
Heath

Re: YAY!!!!! IT"S BACK!!!!
The Admiral and I are in Shanghai, China, for New Years, and I now see the site is up and running. PayPal works for me. I was just now able to send a donation from the other side of the world from where I live.
Thanks Heath!
Ray
Thanks Heath!

Re: YAY!!!!! IT"S BACK!!!!
I am glad to see the site back. I have missed it so.
That being said, I am not familiar with how the site operates. What are the details. I feel the need to donate, but would like to know more about what I am donating to.
Thanks again for being up and running,

Re: YAY!!!!! IT"S BACK!!!!
Well, this is the leading (and many say, best) forum for Mac and Tat boats, Orkia, and it provides not only the ongoing conversations which do an amazing amount to help owners with their boats, but also contains an over 15 year searchable history of owners' mods, questions, suggestions and general information. In addition, it provides copies of all of the owners handbooks and provides the only all-Mac selling platform. In addition, it has begun numerous friendships and collaborations that have lasted, in some cases, decades.Orkia wrote:I am glad to see the site back. I have missed it so.

Re: YAY!!!!! IT"S BACK!!!!
Heath,
Great news that you have it back up. I'm sure it was quite an ordeal. I've seen all the MySQL databases involved. They are all tightly linked.
Going forward, do you have a backup provider? There are plenty of phpBB backup plugins that work well. Or simply do an auto FTP to another cloud backup.
Maybe also update the Website news and announcements from 2014.
Donation coming after this post.
Sigh...so nice to see it back online.

I should note that all of us who are admins work for free - all funds go directly to Heath to help defray the costs of running the forum servers, the domain registration, etc.

Re: YAY!!!!! IT"S BACK!!!!
Hi Kevin,
A post from Heath said to ask a moderator for address for where to send a check or money order,
and I assume to whom to address the check or money order. Could you get me that information
please? I would like to get some funds to him soonest. Also what is a normal amount one sends?
Thanks much for your help.

Oh. I thought This site had bit it. Nice to see it back.
No one seemed to know what happened even on other sailing sites.

Same here. I'll admit I experienced a warm fuzzy gushy feeling all over when I got that email update just now about some thread update or other...dlandersson wrote:First thing I did was click on "donate" and make a contribution.
This is a really great site and the moderators put in a lot of thankless effort.

Surely that's worth a Tubman for pizza and beer (or Excedrin) for the "resurrectionists", yes?
Seriously, I missed you guys.
