Hi Everyone,
Past few times I started to hear my trim motor really struggling when i knew it was getting power. Then it stopped working, then it starts then it stops. Sounds like its dying/dead?
Marina says honda doesn't make the part anymore but they found another one for 150 and it will take 4-5 hours of labor at 115 an hour.
They also want to replace both cables at 50 a piece at an additional 3 4 hours of labor.
plus 200 to take the boat out lol
Has anyone dealt with this issue before?

Now you have me nervous.
I have a 2003 Honda 50 four stroke.
How much is the replacement part from the 150?

Re: 2003 Honda 50 trim motor replacement
Depending on what numbers you look at my Honda 50 is either a 2000 or a 2001. Last week I have getting an alarm when I pushed the throttle past an idle. I found out it was because of the tilt sensor. To solve that problem, I unplugged the sensor as described in this post: http://www.marineengine.com/boat-forum/ ... Trim-alarm
During my research I also found this video on changing the trim motor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOHAlZR6yu8&t=961s It looks like a fairly involved project!
I hope this helps...Jeff

Re: 2003 Honda 50 trim motor replacement
When I saw the estimate of 4-5 hour of labor, I thought it would take me way longer to take the motor off the transom. I'm sure it would take me that long just to get the bolts off. I'm sure they haven't been removed, ever.
