I have a 2003 Honda BF50 that has a minor gas leak somewhere near the top of the motor. I can see it dripping from a screw head near the top. Does anyone have any ideas what this might be? I winterized the motor a little late last Fall, but it didn't get that cold before I did so.
Looks like one of the screws that holds the float bowl on. It's possible the float isn't stopping the incoming gas and the level is too high, but even if it was, the gasket is there to prevent leaking. Try tightening it just a little - it's thin sheet metal screwed into weak aluminium, after all.
Just replaced my '97 BF50. Just before it lost a cylinder, the fuel line started leaking from the fuel pump to the splitter that sent fuel to each cylinder. 5 MM fuel hose i believe. They were easy to pull and replace and it stopped the leaking.
