My wife is getting into the "Mod your Mac" phase.. and wants to buy nice nautical themed plates.
Something unbreakable.. Correll.. Melamine.. etc.
I was STUNNED at how costly they were.

Does anyone have suggestions.. ?
Me.. I want to eat on Paper plates (ones that would be later used to start the fire..)

I wish I had skills like some of ya'll. I always love seeing more wood in our boats.

We are in your camp. We LOVE paper plates and no dishes to wash. Washing dishes is a PITA. Have your admiral wash dishes if she wants. She may very well go find some nautical design paper plates.
The downside is paper products create a lot of garbage.

We switched to paper plates and bowls years ago. They stack very compactly, and the trash factor is more than compensated for by water and time saved in washing. Disposal is not really a problem. I just row ashore with the trash container every 5 days or so and build a small fire below the high tide line. By burning the paper, it takes a good while before our waste basket really needs to be disposed of.

I think that paper is the way to go, unless your staying months on a boat...

THanks!

This is a great tip. Burn your paper trash. Why didn't I think of this?
