I thought that I had a terrific idea several years ago. Instead of trailering my Mac 19, or 26X to Florida and back every year, why not just buy a boat that is already in Florida, and fly back and forth. I found a boat on craigslist that looked an awful lot like the Tattoo 22 that I had seen at the Tattoo factory in Florida, so I bought it. Big mistake. It took 3 of us to get the mast up, the rudder weighed at least 50 pounds, it was nothing like the Macs, or Tattoos, etc. etc. Plan B was that it was on an aluminum trailer, which my Mac 19 is on now. I gave the boat away.
Obviously I'm biased, having been a MacGregor/Tattoo dealer for over 20 years, and sold over 100. I've sailed on a lot of boats over the years, to the Bahamas, coastal cruised Mexico, etc.
I think that I mentioned recently that I talked to a man when I did the Strictly Sail show in Chicago. He lived on his Mac 65 in the Bahamas and used his 26X to go to Florida for supplies.
It's pretty hard to beat a MacGregor for any type of sailing that I do.
