BTW, there was one cell tower on Santa Cruz 2 years ago, but cannot remember who the carrier was. I doubt you'll get any coverage from the coast tho.
If you go as far as Catalina you'd be back in touch, or back to Oxnard of course. Prisoner's is the next big cove past Valdaze, then lots of them more easterly. If I wasn't heading down to Catalina, I'd sure want to spend an extra night or two at Cruz. Wish you, and all, the best, Rich. I'll look fwd to meeting up next time.

The adventure begins....Rich is tucked into his slip in Channel Islands...Dave and Tim battling poor wind pulled in to MDR for the night, with a mighty cruise to santa barbara tommorrow. BK is somewhere up this way in his motorhome, and I plan to rendevouez up with them all tommorrow in santa barbara.
Weather is typical..overcast with fog offshore...and brisk wind picking up in the afternoon.
Standby for updates....

Well, the Admiral is reading her book, kids are sleeping, and I am surfing the high speed internet here in Channel Island Marina.
Things went well today: drove up from Bakersfield, put boat in Water, loaded with supplies, secured Dingy on fordeck, on and on...it is nice to relax, unwind and finaly begin our vacation.
I have been snapping photos left and right and will have a great photo pictorial when I get back and download all the photos.
We will get an early start Saturday morning and sail/motor up the coast to Santa Barbara city and meet up with the rest of the crew....I will give updates then.

WHAT A TRIP!!!!
With the board being down, I haven't been able to report on the trip. When we ended our adventure, Tim was heading from Oxnard, CA to Catilina Island to meet up with some other MAcs.
Our basic route was: Oxnard to Santa Barbara City-to Santa Cruz Island past the paintede cave area and anchor for the first night at cueva Valdez anchorage. The next day we anchored at Potato HArbor, and then motored back to Oxnard.
There is a debate as to how many MAcs make up a flotilla, since we only had TWO, but we decided that was enough.
Here are a few photos and I will post more details later (I am currently in the Minneapolis Airport waiting to fly home to CA):

Great pics, Rich!
I met up with Tim, BK and his wife for a little bit at two harbors last Friday-- great guys (and gal!). Sure hope to meet up with you and your family one day out at Catalina (I have a almost 5 year old little girl, Ava). I sure envy your times spent up at the other beautiful Channel isles-- Hope to join up with you all there one day.
