Well as the original owner of a 1996 Mac 26X, I finally got around to changing the cockpit cushions including the foam over the past couple of weekends. I elected to replace all 5 cushions as they were in pretty poor shape. As the weather can get quite worm in the summers around here, I elected to keep a light color and selected a light gray replacement similar to the original color. The replacement foam was the same thickness but much higher in quality and provides a lot more support. I excluded any snaps in these new cushions so now they are interchangeable from starboard and port side. Doing these myself saved me some boat bucks! See some pictures below.....
When I made cushions for my Mac (a lot of years ago), I placed Velcro on the backs of the seat cushions so they would stay in place when heeling. That way, they were still reversible and held in place. The Sunbrella has held up phenomenally well.
